A suspected suicide car bomber died and two people were injured in 'terrorist' explosions which rocked the centre of Stockholm yesterday.

The twin blasts in a street packed with Christmas shoppers came minutes after a Swedish news agency received a warning denouncing the country's military presence in Afghanistan and threatening deadly reprisals.

In the first attack, a parked car packed with gas canisters exploded around 4.50pm. Two people were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The second blast was about 200 metres (650 feet) away. A man thought to be the bomber was found injured on the ground and later pronounced dead.

A bag filled with nails had been found near the body, according to Swedish news agency SVT. Witnesses said he had a large wound to his stomach as if something had exploded there.

It was believed the bomber had the explosives in a backpack.

Gabriel Gabiro, who heard the second explosion from inside a watch store across the street, said: 'There was a man lying on the ground with blood coming out in the area of his belly, and with his personal belongings scattered around him.

'It shook the store that I was in. Then there was smoke and gun powder coming in. I saw some people crying.'

Security police could not immediately confirm a terrorist link to the explosions but Sweden's Foreign Minister Carl Bildt had no doubt.

He wrote on his Twitter account: 'Most worrying attempt at terrorist attack. Failed - but could have been truly catastrophic.'

The local news agency TT received an e-mail in Arabic and Swedish saying 'the time has come to take action.'

The e-mail referred to Sweden's silence surrounding cartoonist Lars Vilk's drawing of Muhammad as a dog and its soldiers in Afghanistan.

It warned: ' Our acts will speak for themselves. Now your children, daughters and sisters shall die like our brothers and sisters and children are dying.'

Punitive actions would continue 'as long as you do not stop your war against Islam, your degradation of the Prophet and your stupid support for the pig Vilks.'

Vilks has been the object of death threats and at least one plot to kill him.

The message concluded by urging 'mujahideen,' or Islamic fighters, to rise up in Sweden and in Europe, the news agency said.

TT said a similar warning had been sent to the Swedish Security Service SAPO.

Sweden has 500 soldiers serving with NATO's International Security Assistance force (ISAF) in Afghanistan, but their mandate only runs to January 1, 2011, and would need to be renewed by parliament for them to stay on.

On October 1, Sweden's intelligence agency Saepo said it had raised the alert level for attacks from low to elevated, putting it at three on an alert scale of five.

This whole thing doesn't make much sense. What sort of amateur suicide bomber sets fire to his car rather than detonating any explosives in it and then walks a few hundred yards and detonates a suicide vest that just about kills him let alone anyone else, the pictures in the updated article below show his body intact and face unscathed so how powerful were the explosives? Another picture shows his ID conveniently lying next to him and he has been identified as someone who worked on the same road walking around with a board advertising fish & chips There's either something amiss or he is the most incompetant terrorist in the history of mankind. If he was being sponsored by someone they picked a right plum and should've asked for their money back.

Reminds me of the 7/7 London bombings when the police handed over the bodies of the 4 suicide bombers back to their families for proper burials. Fair enough most likely the families of the bombers didn't know what they were up to and were also 'victims' in a way but the authorities need to make it clear to any would be suicide bombers that anyone who willingly blows themselves up along with innocent people can expect their bodies to be thrown straight into a furnace with nothing left for a burial. You should forfeit your right to a proper burial when you decide to kill innocent people and I don't think any Muslim (excluding family members) would have a problem with this.

He made his living off of public benefits and carrying a sign. He was also seen on the internet advertising for a second Muslim wife.

Seems he was kicked out of a Luton (UK) mosque for being too radical, anyone kicked out for being too radical should be reported to the police so this is a fail on the part of the muslim community although in their defence I suspect there are many worshippers who talk about Jihad and more often than not it's smoke without fire. More worrying is that he visited Yemen before returning to Sweden and the security services need to monitor anyone who has been there as it's renowned for its terrorist training camps as well as radicalising western muslims who grow up displaying little or no signs of religious fanticism. Anyway it seems he was working alone (only a one man band could cock this up the way he did) and justice was self serving.

Guys like this are actually more of a harm to the Islamist cause in Europe than a help. The strategic thinkers favor non-limitation to immigration and support of Multicultural initiatives with the government which will retard the assimilation process for Muslims.

What the strategic thinkers have said is that these low-yield attacks only wake up the non-Muslim indigenous population and the security services to Jihad.


The most dangerous Muslims in Europe are NOT violent, in fact they denounce violence (but sometimes in a legalistic way so there's a subtle endorsement of violence against non-Muslims) as counterproductive. The strategic thinker is "playing a long game" and wants to defeat Europe and the West through demographics.

Indeed that's a sure thing. Europeans are weak and will ride the MultiCult ideals over a cliff. They outbreed you, they divide your population by working WITH the government to portray anti-Islamists as the enemy, they preach Islam and they seek to control the message.

When the Muslim population get sufficient numbers---remember that shouldn't be hard as Europeans are having little to no children and Muslims are having many (indeed some Muslim men specifically seek out non-Muslim women to marry or have children with because it kills 2 birds with one stone) children. Within a generation the Muslims will be a much younger, dynamic part of your societies.

Many Islamists have said that the way to truly win Europe is through the Womb not the Bomb. They are right. Even if you stop immigration today you may become minorities in the land your ancestors walked for millenia.
But Europeans won't do anything because it wouldn't be p.c. of them.


If you don't want your grandchildren to curse you, Europeans need to start deporting Muslims in large numbers back to Muslim countries or whatever 3rd party country will take them. If you don't you are screwed.:anonymous
