Well I do think it's important to see both side of a war but if they would just stop killing the white man and the white man would leave them alone we would be good but that is just a dream. I like neither side in this conflict.

Why would I want to watch a film where the enemy is killing my own? I mean, if the guy wants to make this film, go on.

It's bizarre. The other side of the conflict in a human light. It was the kind of thing the creators of Apocalypse Now and Letters From Iwo Jima were striving for.

I don't think the G-spot exists!
There is no way to 'see' the Afghan war without a knowledge of the region's history or culture. Trying to applying 21st century western ideology and government (then wondering what's wrong with THEM) is an insanely juvenile proposition.

The simple fact is that the tribal system that has been practised in the region for centuries and a western style democracy that the coalition is trying to implement there are simply incompatible so this whole regime change is an exercise in futility, these people don't vote out leaders they don't want, they simply overthrow them. In fact the US helped overthrow (via the Mujahadeen) the only government (the PDPA that promoted state atheism and banned men from having beards and women wearing the burqa as well as forced marriages and gender discrimination) that could have brought stability and democracy to the country back in the early 1980s

Yeah I have such sympathy for the Tali. They're the ones who want women as slaves, ban music, kite flying because it somehow offends Allah. The Tali destroyed the Buddhist statues because once again it wasn't muslim and must be destroyed since it offends Allah.

The Tali can rot in a shallow ditch for all I care.

No the Soviets invaded, murdered the entire ruling family then proceeded to take over the entire country.

Naturally you blame the US (surprise surprise).

The Soviets and the US were both equally to blame for using Afghanistan as a cold war battleground, however in this scenario I'd have preferred the socialist non-radical Soviet backed government than the US backed radicals, they eventually defeated the government after the soviet pullout, created the taliban who took over and allowed Al-Qeada to operate in the country and plan attacks on the west from there. The US has backed brutal puppet regimes themselves in the past in poth Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic which resulted in 1000s of murders which was ok I guess as the 'leaders' were seen as anti-Communist, but let's ignore those and just concentrate on the Soviet ones

Why save the world, when you can rule it?
This guy had bollox and luck - he didn't get splatted by an AC130 attack!

Key line: Tarmac road american men are forced to use every day.
Surely the yanks have got enough light tracks/choppers to avoid that?!
I mean, they should have the cash; their soldiers have to buy their own body armour.

This reinforces the feeling of how sad it is that we are fighting.
I wouldn't have shown my kids faces if I was the Taliban guy tho.

I love how you conveniently leave out Pakistan's involvement, the ISI's involvement, Saudi Arabia and the muslim world's involvement. You truly know zilch about foreign affairs. You're more interested in liberal revisionist history which wrongly lays all blame on the US.

Pick up a real book and learn for once in your life.

I'm so great I'm jelous of myself.
it is rather simplistic to pin all the blame upon the u.s. and/or the ussr but neither helped the situation...brutal and fucked up tho the taliban may be it was their country and they're reacting how i imagine we here in the u.s. would if invaded

Yep America is always right and the rest of the world is wrong  It actually doesn't bother me any more what steps the US takes in its foreign policy as Britain has now seen the light and is bringing all our troops home and trust me will not be committing any more to the US's next military adventure(S), along with pretty much the rest of Europe. Britain, Spain and Australia all suffered terrorist attacks AFTER the BS Iraq war and now these countries will be forever targets, thanks a bunch  Europe understands the arabs far better than the US as they have had centuries of experience in ruling them, you can't defeat them militarily and you can't fling money at them and buy their submission, they'll fight to the last person so you'd better be prepared to do the same if you want to win. So carry on trying to change every regime you don't like and replacing them with those you do like (and then change them again when you tire of them) and see what you run out of first, troops or money. 9 years on and your still fighting in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan who didn't even have armies, but carry on regardless and try and achieve your aims and objectives if you even remember what they are anymore. I'll be watching on Sky news from time to time along with the returning British troops if there aint nothing good on the TV.

Urmm I thought you were fighting the Taliban and Al-Qeada who are full of Arab fighters and I'm pretty sure Osama Bin Laden is an Arab as well as Iraq which I'm sure you knew was a major focus of my comment. The Afghans are the civilians you are trying to 'help'. Anyway good luck with the whole war thing, I'm sure it'll all be worthwhile at the end of the day.
