The Dark Avengers

So Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin looks like he's becoming a major player in the Marvel Universe, up there with someone like Dr. Doom or the Red Skull and is starting to transcend to being more than just a Spider-Man villain. The way the Dark Avengers team is set up, I have to give Marvel some props:

Norman Osborn = The Iron Patriot (A mix between Captain America and Iron Man)
Venom aka Mac Gargan, the Scorpion = Spider-Man
Daken, Wolverine's son = Wolverine
Marvel Boy = Captain Marvel
Moonstone = Ms. Marvel
Bullseye = Hawkeye
Sentry
Ares

I just hope they don't screw this up, it looks like it has potential, I can't wait to see how it'll turn out.

You know how you know when you've been out the "616" universe for a very long time? When look at that list and ask the questions: Who the hell is the Iron Patriot?, When did Mac Gargan become Venom?, and When did Wolverine have a son?

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.

What's worse is not reading Marvel comics much in more than a decade and then checking up on what's happened to them and wondering what the hell happened to all the mutants and why did they screw around with the X-men, what the hell did they do with Captain America, Scarlet Witch, Professor X, ect ect...why is Jean Grey dead yet again, and most of all how could they possible screw up Spider-Man as badly as they have. I remember when there really wasn't a "616" universe as it was thought of now, they didn't differentiate between the million different ones, and silly things like that were pretty much DCesc and not done. I don't buy comics anymore but if I ever started again I would refuse to buy anything from marvel until they not only get a new editor but fire Joe Quesada completely. He needs to go back to where his true talents lie in being a mediocre penciler. He has been good to their bottom line and being a coporate shill and looking at marketing stuff (Marvel has gotten too corporate since I stoped getting comics all the time but that's another issue.), but has sucked at at the things that made them good before. Too many of their big decisions have sucked. The "House of M" sucked, The Marvel Civil War sucked, and the whole "One More Day" thing really really sucked. Don't even get me started on revolving door they have made out of death and coming back to life for too many people since just even I stopped reading them.

I liked Civil War but I haven't read any of their other big events. I wait until all of the comics big events hit Graphic Novel form before I decide if I'm going to pick them up of not. However Civil War is the only one I've picked up from the "616" universe. All of the other Marvel books I've picked up have been from the Ultimate universe.

Thor's reaction to the Dark Avengers in Thor #600 was priceless. Thor's fighting his grandfather Bor in New York City and is getting beat up, so he decides he needs allies and yells for any of the Avengers to assemble only to get the Dark Avengers who attack both of them. Thor's so angry at this point he massacres the DAs. The best part was when Thor is picking himself up from the ground. Norman Osborn/Iron Patriot aims his repulsor rays at Thor's head, and Thor grabs his wrist, crushes it, and tells him to flee if he wants to live. Thor then punches him with such force that Iron Patriot ends up flying out of NYC.

It was an awesome issue.
