I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
I'm a registered organ donor. I've tried to donate blood a couple times, but I just can't deal with needles. Both times I've gone in and done the paperwork, but as soon as I see the needle I freak out and am unable to go through with it. I don't know why I have this irrational fear of needles, but it's kept me from giving blood in the past.

When I was younger I donated Blood, blood plasma and platelets, I wish I still could.

Makes me sad that I donate anymore because I'm diabetic and they won't let me

Only 3 marrow donors??!! Come on guys and gals! We can do better than that!

Marrow donation is extremely geno-specific. Meaning? Your genes (and hence your ethnicity/heritage) plays a HUGE role. The more people who volunteer and provide samples, the greater the chances that folks needing donors will find a good match!

Folks, all you have to do is swab your mouth with a couple Q-tips to send your samples!
THAT'S IT!
I ain't kiddin'!

And even if you're a registered "donor" but don't feel like donating, you can always back out. NO ONE can FORCE YOU to donate! It's entirely up to you.

So what say y'all?

I'm a registered organ donor.

Now,whether or not any of them are worth taking is a different matter.

I donate an organ to my wife at every opportunity..

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
I'm a registered organ donor, but nothing I have will be useful to anyone. My heart is probably crap, my kidneys are jerks and my liver is...well, garbage.

I was raised in a family that believed strongly in donating blood and organs. My mom had a very rare blood type and donated blood at least once a month until her health prevented her form donating anymore. My brother donated a kidney to a nephew, I have an uncle that donated bone marrow and I donate blood an a semi-irregular basis.

After the suicide of my 17-year-old nephew my sister became a very active spokeswoman of one of the national donor organizations and has led the fight to prevent family members from disregarding the donor wishes of the deceased.

I'm no expert on this but from what she says, in many places, the family of a potential donor can override the wishes of the donor so just checking the block on your license is no guarantee that your organs will be used in the event of your death.
