I don't know what they were thinking exactly....but Houston's free alt-newspaper The Houston Press just printed an article titled "The 10 Hottest Women on the Texas Sex Offenders List". I don't know what is more disturbing from this. The fact that most if not all abused children. The fact that they are in fact sex offenders. Or, the fact that I don't find any of them remotely attractive really. Sooooo, if these are the hottest.....I'd hate to see the ugliest. But then again, my standards are pretty high.....so I guess it's up to personal tastes.

BTW: One of these women was charged with aggravated sexual assualt on a two year old boy. Am I really supposed to judge how hot she is knowing that? Would that not make me a slightly disturbed individual as well?

That's just disturbing.

There are a couple of things that are a little odd with this one. The first thing is she is the only one who has an expiration time to be on the list.She was also a minor when this one done (by her birthday she was 12 when she committed the crime). I don't know what the case is in Texas but where I live if the term "aggravated" is used for a crime (ie Aggravated Assault) it means that person was goaded into attacking someone but was not justified in their action. If it is the same there then how does a 2 year old do this, by taking off the training pants and streaking???? I am by NO means stating that she is innocent or shouldn't be sentenced. Was she convicted of this crime because she was a minor?:dunno: Maybe someone from that area can enlighten me.

There are three very rare specimens in there; female on female offenders. That's very unusual.

Other than that, this list - or rather the way the 'news'paper attempted to sell it - was a fucking hideous mistake; and own goal in the Pay of Pigs sense of the word.

Read the humiliating, if mealy-mouthed, 'apology' (read: rationalisation) that they had to print after being swamped with outrage and complaints.

Note they admit trying to 'sell' the story with shock; that shock twining 'hottest' with sex offender. If that doesn't tell the moron reporter and his moron bosses just how fucked, lost and useless they are, nothing will.

You shouldn't have to sell a story. One of the fundamental principles of journalism is to the let the facts of the story speak for themselves. In this case, the subject material was plenty shocking enough. That they felt the need to cover it in hype, and sell it like poison candy, reveals just how ethically bankrupt, and professionally substandard, they are.
