I don't have a story about this but I do remember when Magic Johnson said he has the virus I was one of his biggest fan and When I heard the news I was 10 years old and I think i was more hurt that he wsa not playing basketball anymore than anything as i got older and learned more about it I was shocked on what this can do to your body and understood why he left the game and when he came back to rhe NBA at 260 lbs I was shocked because I heard so many horror stories on what this virus does and I saw something different. He went to Europe to get prpoer treatment and he looked better that ever I think he had the money to do this we all don't make millions of dollars and that is what I think it is.Money talks and you know the rest It is a killer virus that they say was found everything found has a cure I think it is man made.We just lost contol of it:2 cents:

All HIV does is destroy your Tcells. If you're Tcell count stays high, the longer you will live.
I wonder how much Tcells Magic has.

Magic Johnson was tested a few years ago and there was no trace HIV in his body. He stated he has had unprotected sex with his wife since that test and she is not infected.

Really that still sound unsafe but anyway so you are saying he has gotten rid of it:dunno:

I don't know if he has gotten rid of it or if that is even possible but that is what he stated in this interview. Ex-pro boxer Tommy Morrison is HIV positive and has had unprotected sex with his with for more than a decade and she hasn't contracted it either. :dunno::yinyang:

Man that is some crazy stuff I mean that is crazy I'm thinking though unprocetected sexually contact you can get HIV or AIDs

I'm so great I'm jelous of myself.
Then again some very rich people (Freddie Mercury, Rock Hudson) wnet downhill very fast indeed. I suppose it comes down to:

- How early it's caught
- How well you respond to anti-retrovirals
- How good your palliative care is

There are cases of HIV resistance among some prostitutes in Kenya http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2008/09/080901205622.htm so there could also be spontaneous cure or remission but having unprotected sex does seem like a high risk exercise........

When someone has the HIV virus, there are drugs now that can help lower the detrimental effects that the virus causes. I believe Magic Johnson still has the HIV virus and I'm sure he is able to pay for the best care allowed for him. A person can live somewhat of a normal life whilst having HIV, although there is always the risk that one day it is going to become "full blown AID's" which from then on the person will not live very long. But so long as the person has been infected with the HIV virus with the proper combinations of drugs live normally. Of course they are going to have to take precations so that they do not effect others but the medicine that is being proscribed at the moment is extremely helpful, especially when compared with the 80s when HIV/AIDs first came into common knowledge, if you caught HIV then it was a virtual death sentance, now its not so much the case. Unless of course you cannot find the right combinations of drugs.

I think the impact of the HIV/AIDs virus was to make people more aware of the people they had sex with, no longer could people have sex with many different partners without using contraception without the consequences of doing so. It made people more aware that they had to use protection and lookout for your safety and the safety of those you sleep with. Which is a good thing when you think about it, not so good for those who didnt know in years past but for future generations the outbreak of AID's can only act as a warning.

I have been told that Magic Johnson has regular treatments where he undergoes ozone therapy in order to kill the AIDS virus in his bloodstream. Not sure if it is true but it is definitely true that ozone will kill HIV.

I read that in D.C., 1/20 people have HIV.

But what about herpes, 1/5 adults have herpes, that's pretty extreme.

South Park had an episode that was obviously a comedy, but it struck a really good point...

Nobody fucking cares about AIDS anymore. It's all about cancer now. You hardly hear about AIDS anymore and people have jumped off of the bandwagon because the focus is cancer, cancer, cancer.

In regards to the impact of AIDS, it only seems to have an impact now if you personally know someone who has it. Other than that, people tend to really dismiss AIDS as being a prominent killer now-a-days.

HIV/AIDS is a chronic illness for many people in the developed world. It is managed fairly well with medication and living well. But if you can't afford the latest medication regime, or eat a healthy diet, then your viral count will increase and you will be vulnerable to catching secondary infections.

AIDS is a serious issue in my home country of South Africa because of the severe poverty and poor access to health care. Unfortunately not everyone can have access to the health care that Magic Johnson has.

Unfortunately, there's still thousands of new infections in the United States each and every year. Why's that? Well there's a number of reasons, but one current trend is basically attributed to younger people who virtually have little, to no memory of what was the worst phase of the epidemic in the 80's, and early to mid 90's.

But yeah, if attention is drawn elsewhere, I can see where apathy can set in. Absolutely. Which is, needless to say, quite unfortunate.

Also In South Africa - I shudder to think about the rest of Africa, including Egypt - a mate I had was a Paramedic. He told me he saw people with symptoms no-one recognised.

Due to the body's immune system, a lot of diseases are either kept in check or defeated.

As a result of AIDS, there were sufferers that had unknown, sometimes grotesque symptoms in the form of malformations on the skin. Although the diseases were probably around a long time, they had not been categorised as no-one had seen them before.

AIDS kills 300 000 in South Africa a year.

The Health Minister in previous President's office, Tshabalala Msimang, advocated beetroot, garlic and African Potatoes as a remedy for AIDS.

Here's Leon Schuster with Tshabalala Msimang

I've had two people in my life be affected by AIDS. My uncle died a couple of years ago from it. He was my dad's brother and they didn't grow up together and I only met him a couple of times, and I was kinda shocked to find out that he had passed away.

Before that, I found out my bother has AIDS. It was back in 1997 when my mom let me know. He is older than me and the first memory I have of him is him graduating from high school and moving out, so it's not like we grew up together also. He had visited a few times and I remember one time he was on all this medication. He never told me, and my mom thought that since he wasn't going to, if something happened to him, she thought I'd feel betrayed or something so she told me. The doctors gave him 8 years to live, and because of the medication, I believe it's going on 13 years right now. He's had both hips replaced because of the disease and the medication eating away his bones, among several other things I can't think of. My biggest fear is getting that call at like 3am and someone letting me know he's passed.
