Any help needed requiring new technologies or figuring how to work with technology should go in here.

I will work to keep this updated and anyone else who can offer help should try.

I want an Ipod Touch. But I work off a PC (for now ;)). How hellish will my life become when I want to sync the two?

Syncing is very easy.

Install Itunes
Connect your Ipod.
Your itunes should open up after connecting your Ipod
Add tracks
Then sync it by clicking on the top left navigation
Should say "update (name of ipod)"

What about video files? Does the Ipod Touch play ALL the popular formats? I just zip those over to the Ipod Touch too? Nothing funky that will drive me to violence or madness?

What level of hell will I experience in attempting to network a XP and a Vista computer? My previous attempts at networking a XP and 98 were about as successful as a Cincinnati Bengals Super Bowl run.

^It's far more reliable and robust with an XP/Vista implementation (Ethernet or wireless). Should be no problem

(98 handles TCP/IP settings in a very antiquated way - which is problematic when adding to an XP/Vista network).

My avatar makes you horny!?
And Vista is just a lot better at handling these things. Windows 7 will be far better still

MP4 (video + audio)
MP3 (audio)

Many files you have to change. Since Youtube formats it's videos in .flv format you will need to find a converter to convert it to MP4. It's a hassle, but it's not so bad once you get used to it.

No, it can be done, but the Itunes software is very touchy. Most of the time you can't go on two different computers and update with Itunes. It will clean your whole Ipods hard drive and put the new data your uploading on it.

You're kidding?! I don't have the first MP4. It's cool for all my MP3 music, but you mean I'd have to convert all my mpegs, wmv and avi video files? Geez! So what's the easiest/best way to do that for thousands of files? Is there some sort of batch application for that kind of conversion? Please say, yes.

The secret ingredient? MY BALLS
Sweet, I could use this thread. Long story short...

Last week, I realized that my computer had been infected with "Windows Anti-Virus Pro". Well, I Google searched for a way to get rid of it and I found some methods that people said would work. The method I used was the following...

I downloaded Spyware Doctor and ran it. Once the infection was found, I had the program delete it. But, a lot of websites said that I also had to manually delete certain "hidden" files that were associated with Windows Anti-Virus Pro, which wouldn't be detected by any programs. There was a list of all the files which needed to be deleted, so I got to working on it. One of the files was "rundll32.exe". Anyway, I deleted the appropriate file which was associated with Windows Anti-Virus Pro, but I accidentally deleted some rundll32 files that were associated with other programs. I didn't realize it until an hour or so after I did it, but, ever since then, a lot of my programs won't open. I know that rundll32.exe is needed in order to open programs, but I can't figure out how to fix it.

For example, when I double click on the Windows Media Player icon on my desktop, it brings up the window that says "Choose the program you want to use to open the file", which is followed by a list of a bunch of various programs. Ironically, one of the programs is Windows Media Player. And, just for information's sake, if I choose Windows Media Player as the program I want to use to open the file, Windows Media Player loads. But, it tries to play my Windows Media Player file as if it is a movie or music file.

I'm confused as fuck and I don't know what to do.

Oh, two other things...

I can't do a system restore either. So, that option is out of the question. When I try to run a system restore, it won't even open. Also, I don't want to format my hard drive or reinstall Windows XP onto my laptop. I mean, I will if I have to, but I'm obviously trying to avoid that option, as I don't want to lose all of the data that's currently on my hard drive.

Thanks in advance for anyone who can offer up any sort of advice.

^^Have you tried doing a System Restore in Safe Mode.

^^How about an in-place upgrade (reinstallation/repair install) of Windows XP:

Boot from the xp cd and go past the recovery console to the install menu. Select repair the existing installation.

AFAIK, this means you do not end up losing your data/applications but you will have to reinstall any Windows updates.

So, just boot up with the CD already in my D: drive (that's my CD drive)?

^^Yep  Re your data. Please note my caveat in my previous post: "AFAIK".

(Certainly when I have performed an in-place upgrade (repair install) the data has always remained intact all of the time.)
