Be careful what you wish for, it might come true!
I'm not a conspiracy theorist.
On the contrary.

But this situation keeps getting more and more intriguing...

Pretty simple, in my view. Trump is a megalomaniac who has on one occasion claimed to have been in Moscow and met Putin, then claimed to have been met him on the TV show 60 Minutes (they were on separate sets continents apart), then when the heat was on claimed not to know him. The one constant that runs through this so-called relationship is that Trump is easily flattered. Putin, the old KGB puppet master, would occasionally feed his ego with a few compliments.

Trump is a weak little man who's ill-prepared for even local public office. He very likely became an unwitting stooge for the Russian Federation. Putin may be running his country into the ground economically and is most certainly a threat to regional stability, but he can still eat vain, deluded people like Trump alive.

I'm thinking Putin is doing whatever he can to get Trump elected so he can build that Mexico wall.

And then fly over to it and say.... wait for it...

"Mr. Trump, tear down this wall!!"

Probably more complex and sinister than that.
Putin is a top member of the Russian mafia, it controls at least 40% of the Russian economy.
The Russian mafia has a strong presence in America and a lot of other countries.
With Trump elected the Russian mafia can do more business aka crime in America.
Trump's main businesses are construction and casinos. You can't be in those industries without making secret deals with the mafia.
Most business and politics is organized crime, they are just very good at not getting caught.
By creating laws to protect themselves, and paying the right people to ignore the crimes or hide the truth.

That's funny!

Just going by what we can see and hear, I'd have to agree that Putin would play Trump like a well tuned piano. Trump likes to make believe that he's a tough guy. But with Putin, it's not so much a question of if he's ever killed anybody, but how many people has he killed or had killed? Trump wants to make people believe that he's cut from the same cloth as Vlad. And in my opinion, Trump's narcissistic, reactionary nature makes him somewhat childlike and simple... easy for a KGB killer to figure out. You know damn well that the Russians are completing a full psychological work up on Trump (and Clinton). Compliment The Donald and he'll eat it up, no matter who it comes from. But goad him with a verbal smack and he'll go off the deep end. He can't stop himself. He's unable to resist the temptation. The past few days have proven that. After a fairly on point (prepared) speech given to the Detroit Economic Club, within 48 hours, he was back to being the same unhinged buffoon as before. The man is trapped inside his own cult of personality.

What gets me is, for someone who says (over and over and over) how smart he is, he can't see that he's being baited and played.

I'm glad someone got the joke!
You're right about the Detroit (and other) speeches. Even with the "titties" Freudian-slip, he should have owned that speech on the way to a rebound. It's sad because he obviously has smart people writing and preparing his arguments, but he continuously goes off-book. With all the mistakes clinton has made, he could easily be leading the polls. Maybe the drop in the polls will be a kick in the pants to get him to follow his advisers more seriously, at which point we'll have a real race.

As DiCaprio said:
"You had my curiosity, now you have my attention"
His antics got him on the map, now he needs to capitalize on it

Certainly some, but on the other hand an awful lot who aren't smart at all. Like that tea party loon the other day who kept insisting Obama invaded Afghanistan; that it was "his" war :1orglaugh

Putin and Trump sharing staff? The plot thickens.

Donald Trump's Campaign Chair Denies NY Times Report on Payments from Putin Ally

Hillary Clinton’s staff called on Donald Trump to come clean about the extent of the ties between Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort and the Kremlin after a New York Times report suggested he may have received payments from Viktor Yanukovych, a pro-Russian former president of Ukraine.

Yanukovych, who was ejected from power by a popular uprising in early 2014, had engaged Manafort as a consultant on how to burnish his image in the West. The NYT said it found Manafort listed as a recipient of $12.7 million in secret payments documented in a ‘black ledger’ belonging to Yanukovych that came to light after he fled.

That would explain why the Trump Team had major campaign topics about russian issues supersoftened.

Yanukovych, who fled to Russia.

Yeah it sure might. No more gop campaign plank supplying defensive weapons to Ukraine. Bye bye. Throw in Trump's threats to the NATO alliance and his encouragement of more Russian computer hacking of his opponent...
again, I'm not often a conspiracy theorist, but this is certainly an intriguing combination of events.
