The ideals in the founding of the US are by and large principles of Libertarian liberalism.

I wish more people understood that and what it should mean.

But I will add the caveat, no ideology is a perfect solution for the US and all require yielding of principle from time to time in order that practical solutions to complex issues be effected. We should all be principled but be prepared to be pragmatic when duty calls.

I'd agree that I'm open minded and that we shouldn't get invoilved in issues that don't concern us. I think certain nations should be allowed to resolve their own problems. The fact that we allow Mr Mugabe to remain in power shows what hypocrites we can be when there isn't so much to be gained.
