[Gunman 'lying in wait' kills 3 Pittsburgh officers

AP – Police walk up Fairfield Street in the Stanton Heights area of Pittsburgh where a gunman shot three police …

PITTSBURGH – A gunman wearing a bulletproof vest and "lying in wait" opened fire on officers responding to a domestic disturbance call Saturday, killing three of them and turning a quiet Pittsburgh street into a battlefield, police said.

Police Chief Nate Harper said the motive for the shooting isn't clear, but friends said the gunman recently had been upset about losing his job and feared the Obama administration was poised to ban guns.

Richard Poplawski, 23, met officers at the doorway and shot two of them in the head immediately, Harper said. An officer who tried to help the two also was killed.]

Well that's really helping his cause.

This is the kind of nonsense these idiots spew after they allow themselves to be whipped into a frenzy by wing nuts.

The greatest coup of this last election was the "firearms" lobby selling these idiots on the notion that big bad Obama was coming to raid their compounds and confiscate their firearms. Like shooting fish in a barrel, all of these fools went out and spent their last checks on every firearm they could find to the benefit of the firearms lobby and dealers.....Talk about suckers...:spin:

Obama did say in an interview that he didn't think we could do that.

When he was asked about banning guns.
So, he would like to if he can figure a way to subvert our rights.

There would be a big war in this country over gun confiscation.

Not like in New Orleans, where they basically just gave up.
It would be best to stay away from the gun issue for any President or politician. Unless they want to give us more rights, like being able to carry guns concealed or not. Which is legal under the Constitution, but.....

Obama has said the he believes the 2nd Amendment confers an individual right to "gun" ownership. That's rather unambiguous if you just listen to the guy. But as with ANY other right they are not absolute and are subject to common sense restrictions (i.e. the common sense restriction on free speech prohibiting certain statements in theaters or on planes, etc.).

You may forfeit your right to freedom if you commit a crime. If that crime is a felony you have forfeited your right to own a firearm or vote. Boarding a plane or entering a crowded theater cancels you right to say what every you want....

The only "absolute" right you should have is to your own, individual self-determination and you don't even have that right.

What right is "absolute" in your mind? Certainly the right to own a firearm isn't.

We have many inalienable rights and most have been subverted.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense.

Max Hardcore wasn't prosecuted in that capacity and not in the correct state, nor did he have an impartial jury. Just to name one person.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.

Waco... The sheriff checked all the Branch Davidians' weapons and they were legal. The ATF and FBI murdered them anyway.

Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.

The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.

I could go on and on.

"Firearms stand next in importance to the Constitution itself! They are the American people's Liberty Teeth and keystone under Independence. From the hour the Pilgrims landed, to the present day, events, occurrences, and tendencies prove that to insure peace, security, and happiness, the rifle and pistol are equally indispensable. Not one of those rights are "absolute" sorry you typed or cut n pasted all of that......As in the case of the right against unreasonable searches....isn't "unreasonable" conditional and subject to interpretation???

In other words, there are circumstances that could make an unreasonable thing like a body cavity search reasonable and lawful in some cases.

Also, are you in favor of someone with a documented history of mental illness retaining the right to own firearms? Or a career criminal with numerous felonies retaining such rights??

You have the right to free speech but if you're under oath (for example) you don't.

An absolute right is a right that falls under no jurisdiction but your own and is irrevocable.

PS...Inalienable rights are "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".

Criminals shouldn't have firearms if they used one illegally.
Murderers, and violent criminals shouldn't either. But, they shouldn't be in public to need one. The death penalty should be used more often.

Tell that to the police, politicians, and so on. They lie all the time.

Also, look at how Blagojevich was treated and he was at Disney World when news of his indictment came. An average person wouldn't have been allowed to leave their state. They would be in a cell. It must be nice to be above the law.

Blagojevich

"Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness " is one of the most famous phrases in the United States Declaration of Independence. These three aspects are listed among the "inalienable rights" of man.

Well "Will" you didn't really making any counterpoints other than to dispell your own point. You attempted to make the point that ownership of firearms is "absolute" as extended by our Constitution but realize there ARE cases in which that right may be forfeited. You didn't even respond to the documented cases of mental illness (which I don't think any reasonably sane individual disputes) and firearms ownership.

Also, there are many crimes in that don't involve murder which a firearm may be used illegally....are you suggesting only those who murder or use a firearm to murder should lose their rights???

In the U.S. judges decide what reasonable searches are...that should mean ipso facto and by definition it's conditional and based on interpretation...

Your swipe at politicians aside, there are many laws that restrict your right to say anything you want at any time despite our right to free speech...

Again, our Constitution doesn't grant absolute rights. All of our rights exist within the framework of our adherence to laws.

Whatever you want to believe, but you're wrong.

The only people that shouldn't have a firearm are the ones that abuse them,
violent criminals, and someone who is mentally disabled.

As long as they have obtained a warrant legally and by the laws stated in the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
Those are the Supreme Laws of the land.
Not the Supreme Court or any other court.

So it IS possible to believe the 2nd Amendment confers an individual right to ownership of firearms AND also believe such a right is subject to common sense restrictions as I stated originally, huh? Congratulations! You get it now.:hatsoff:
