Lil Wayne is not a hip hop artist. Sorry ya'll. He's probably the worst thing that's happened to hip hop in the past 5 years.

I like The Roots a lot -- they don't strike me as hip-hop so much as jazz/fusion guys doing their own thing who just get called "hip hop" because that's what we called black performers now. For one thing, they can all read, write and play music.
I also like De La Soul, and I have a soft spot for Missy Elliot. I loved The Nappy Roots first record, but then that went all to hell.

Jay z is not overrated. He may have fell off a lil bit, but he still is better than alot of rappers out today. Kanye might be cocky and all, but his music and speaks for itself. Lil Wayne might say some off the walll shit sometimes, but dude still can spit. Listen to Dedication 1 and 2 and Da Drought 1 and 2. I respect your list and I love Eminem and Ghostface Killah.
