I've been wondering this for a while, said that I've been wondering it, but never asked because I didn't want to look like a total idiot.

Now we know W was idiotic, but Sarah Palin? I mean come on!
This is a joke right? I mean, if she were British I'd assume she were simply a charade for a TV show: that she were a comedy act (and not a terribly good one at that).

I mean, she can't be for fucking real, she just can't, all the stupid shit she comes out with. Stupid as she is, and yet a politician? I mean we have Boris Johnson, who is just awful, but at least he went to Eaton, which kind of makes it kind of understandable that he made it to a position of power (not a very powerfull one, THANKFULLY).

I've bought her as being a genuine politician for all this time because the american sense of humour is generally not terribly subtle; to set up a global joke on that scale, then to not laugh while the world falls for it, and to keep that many people in on the joke, just, doesn't figure.

So seriously, I give up, please tell me Freeones:

The republicans cannot be serious. They either want to fail big-time (or rather, let their country go to waste)... or they have some sort of backup plan that we just can't see.

I just sit back and enjoy it. I think of it as being like a witness to the fall of the Roman Empire. I guess she's a knee jerk reaction to Obummer, but after W I guess anything is possible, President Palin :1orglaugh

More seriously, and unfortunately for all of us, the USA seems to be in the grips of a political system where moron's float to the top.

Tragically, we as American have become to expect much less from our politicians. Instead of voting for political and intellectual superiors, many literally base their vote on who they would rather have a beer with. This is why the Constitutional scholar politician is being replaced by those who literally have to ask what the 2nd Amendment does.
Finances are also playing a much larger roll. Few Americans realize, but it is not their votes which matter, but more and more companies are playing a larger roll. Banks, insurance company, medical companies, oil companies, tobacco companies, energy companies, defense contractors - these companies not only control the ears of our politicians, but many times determine who will run for what. Lobbyist have a much larger voice in Washington do the common voter. And, in this case, a company cares not for intellect in a Senate seat...they want someone who they can control like a puppet.

The rise of caribou barbie is indicative of two things:


1)sections of the American public are more gullible, ideological and mediocre than they've ever been


2)The marketing skills and propaganda abilities of the Republican Party are second to none.

What's sad is I don't even get that line of thinking from people either. If I drank, among the last people I would ever want to go and have a beer with or hang out next to are the people in political office. If I could and they showed up where I was at I would tell them to shut the hell up and get away from me.
