TSA sucks

Yes, I made sure my patdowns were done by a female. But yeah they told me I could choose either the scan or the patdown, so I chose scan. Then I got out of the scanner and they were like "ok protocol requires us to pat you down too" and so I got my first of four patdowns of the day. I got two back to back in Toronto...literally, one officer did a patdown and then she had another come over and pat me down again. She was very thorough, even touching my chest and ass (which for the record, I don't have a problem with if its done once, but three out of the four times today I was touched).

Again I have to re-iterate that I'm all for people going through these xray scan things, and getting patdowns if they prefer. It should be a quick and easy process to take an extra step in security, but the system is flawed to the max when they centre out a 100lb blonde girl, and let the entire rest of the airport glide through with not so much as a second glance. It doesn't make sense. They spent all day (literally, 10+ officers were watching me today) on me and could have let someone who actually DID have a weapon, or some sort of prohibited item on board. I just don't see the logic in harassing a handful of people and letting the rest go without any extra security measures. Thats why people are coming forward with harassment claims because it IS harassment when you are centered out of the group and get treated differently than the rest of the people on your plane for no reason other than the fact that you got randomly selected. Thats stupid IMO...search out those who ARE suspcious, ie. people with brand new passports, brand new fliers, people who seem nervous, people with questionable items in their bag etc, instead of throwing all these tests and security measures at me for NO reason. Arg. Sorry for the ranting. It was just a shit ass day....was so excited and shit like this just kills the excitement for travelling. I hope to god I don't have to do this again on the way back although I'm sure I won't, I shouldn't anyways since I'm going back into my country of citizenship right? right? lol

I hope this experience won't keep you from visiting our beautiful country again

waaaaaaaaaah welcome to america. its cold as fuck in miami right now by the way. i dont get why you had to get scanned in 2 different cities unless one scan was for boarding and the second was for customs. you'll get nowhere with any heresay claims unless you have footage you personally own, cameraphone or other

Wow, way to be a dick for no reason bro. Aren't there enough posters around here who do that already?

i'm sorry ashleigh, that's fucking bullshit if you ask me. i'd offer a hug, but close contact from a stranger probably doesn't sound appealing right about now lol. anyway it seems to be the way this country is going though, unfortunately and i expect it to get far worse before it gets better...as far as safety, i'll trust that to myself not a government agency, regardless of their acronym or "intentions"...

Don't take it that way , it was just a part of their job.

Doesn't mean I should have to experience the way they do "their job" again. Colonoscopists "do their job" too, doesn't mean I'm gonna go in for a colonoscopy. They can keep doing their job, and honestly, I am happy they have more extensive security checks but until they do their security checks correctly (and by this I mean check EVERYONE, and not just single random people out for no reason) and not take things to the extreme (I'm sorry but I didn't need an escort to walk around a fucking airport, and didn't need to be treated like I was hiding a bomb up my ass), I won't be flying and going through that again. If they had valid reason to put me through a days worth of BS then fine but they didn't, I was selected for no reason and at random, which is bullshit IMO. Either xray/patdown/interrogate everyone getting on a plane or only go to those measures for those who seem suspicious or give you reason to believe that they might be carrying a weapon/drugs.

Clearly they were worried about the Burqa you were wearing... the little revised pictoral Korans you were distributing... the pasties of Blistex Lip BALM strategically located over your delectable naughty bits....

Seriously, i cannot begin to understand how you feel. Traveling this weekend i opted out of the 'new' millimeter wave' scan... I'm around radiation all week at work. When you look, TSA or Homeland Security or someone official has uploaded a Looong Wiki article about the scanners and how safe they are with all manner of comparisons to 'other' sources of radiation... but curiously there is NOWHERE a dose estimate available. To me that either means they don't know or they do know and it isn't as 'benign' as they want us to believe.

So I ASKED for the pat down. I offered to waive waiting for a male to do the pat down. The pat down was professional and honestly inadequate if I had a Kryton plastiknife in at least 3 different places going through. And the rest of my party? waved through the metal detector because the millimeter wave system had faulted.

Vegas / Southwest were also 'voluntarily cooperating' with the TSA... that meant after showing my ID to get my boarding pass and leave my luggage, and again to get through security, i had to show it a 3rd time to board the plane... from the friggin' secured seating area. AND they were waving a swab over people's bottles and drinks... fluids PURCHASED IN THE FREAKING SECURE AREA! what a load of crap. People were being asked by 2 different TSA agents to show id... a total waste of money supposed to be keeping us safe.

Sadly, until we accept that PROFILING using more than just sex or race IS a vital tool and in many ways the only way to ferret out would be bad guys, we're going to give up more and more freedoms and put up with more and more pointless crap (like shutting off your iTouch... if an iPod or an iPhone can bring down a plane, i don't want to be on that plane).

In any case, the sad truth is too many one time bullies or weak willed people who were bullied are in place at security stations, and happily impose their will on totally innocent people just because they can...

It probably doesn't help to know that in their own sick sad, desperate attempt to grope or embarrass or control you, YOU were probably the only bright spot in their dreary lives for the day... or more likely for the week or month or year.

So i hope the wine helped... a nice pinot or syrah? Deep breath, repeat after me, 'illegitimi non carborundum'

Better days to you!

Oh and these measures are supposed to keep us feelin safe...then why am I dreading and afraid to show up at the airport next week for my flight home. Since I've seen firsthand that their screening process is done at random, and not screening every passenger, I don't feel any safer about flying regarding bombs/terrorists since they're not checking everyone, but now I have to fly with the added fear that I'm going to get harassed and humiliated in front of a bunch of people. Way to solve the problem!

uhm... try using make up to your advantage... paint a big ol' cold sore on your lip. frumpy clothes... bad hair...

Naw, it works for me just naturally, but it'd never work for you! sorry. Maybe having a friend videotape it... 'cept that's probably outlawed, too. Handheld recorder? Advance word to the head of security where you're flying that you've had problems and want witnesses?

i dunno. i'm sad you're stressed about it; flying can be simply amazing, but being crammed into an aluminum tube after being groped in the name of 'security' kind of ruins the mood. I guess the only way to make sure you aren't harassed is to be elected to office... they've been exempted, of course.

Hang in there, & let us know what we can do to get you smiling again!

This has nothing to do with security and everything to do with slave indoctrination.

I listen to the Alex Jones show everyday, Alex has the most in depth coverage and fights hardest against Big Sis and the scum TSA.

Just google Alex Jones TSA rant or Alex Jones TSA and you'll know what its all about. We have to resist those scumbags. They always pull hot girls out of line for the "secondary" screenings.

"Well whatever it takes to keep us safe!" That's the line of bullshit I hear when it comes to airport and air travel security. What's a little groping and humiliation compared to the illusion of safety? It amazes me how willing people are to give things up in order to feel safe.:dunno: I would rather drive then have some high school dropout with latex gloves play with my balls. But whatever makes morons happy. The truth of the matter is that if a group of psychos want to hi jack an airliner they will find a way regardless of any kind of security is put in front of them.

...Great post! This is exactly how I feel about the situation . . count me amongst the unwilling.

...Furthermore, who flippin cares if there are people on the plane carrying illegal drugs, whooptie f'in doo, how could that endanger me as a passenger?
Yea, you goons just put that baggie of weed back in that suitcase, cautiously close the lid and snap it shut without breaking the damned thing in the process, is that too much to ask for?
;;;Ohh, I get it, if the TSA claims to be screening all flight passengers for illegal drug possession as well as for improvised weaponry, it gives them an excuse to vigorously search everybody instead of simply screening those who fit a likely terrorist profile. You see how that works?

Thats the thing though, they DON'T screen everyone. They select a random few to get secondary screening, while the rest of the passengers just walk on through. That is why the system doesn't work...the TSA spent all day frisking me, interrogating me, scanning me, ripping through my luggage...for no reason at all because I wasn't travelling with drugs or weapons...while the rest of my two flights walked on the plane after taking one step through a metal detector. Someone else on my flight COULD have had drugs up their bum, or the materials to construct a weapon, but the TSA didn't even bother to check!

Anyways, holy fucking bump, this was from last year LOL

I don't know how 'random' the secondary screening is.

I was preparing to go through screening once and there was a guy in front of me clearly in a hurry.

He started hustling all of his stuff off and was damned near stripped naked by the time he got to the metal detector.

All the time I'm sitting here watching the TSA guard watching him....

He watched this guy go through all of those back flips taking all of his shit off..and as soon as he walked through the metal detector...the TSA guard pointed him over to the side for secondary screening....:1orglaugh:1orglaugh:1orglaugh

The guy was like, WHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA??????????:mad::mad:

I could hardly contain my laugh...

its random. When you check in, thats when they let you know you've been "selected".

Stop flying and sue them.

Sue them for emotional distress.

Did they fix your suitcase?

I can't sue them. Firstly, I don't know who broke my suitcase. Secondly, I didn't get the name of the asshole who was sexually harassing me.

I was 'randomly' selected once but I could have predicted I would be since I bought my ticket at the last minute or something...can't remember what exactly it was but based on it I wasn't surprised I was selected...
