Tv Issues

howie789

I know how to use the search button!
Well I bought a 27" (CRT)TV off Craigslist on the cheap..everything's OK except when I turn on the set, or within the first few minutes- the picture gets snowy, and I lose reception..the coaxial cable is on tight. I read where it could be a loose solder. I cant afford a repairman, but what are some non-technical remedies to prevent this from happening again -other than whacking it? or do I have to live with it...

Yeah don't buy a tv off of Craigslist that's my high tech tip for you. You could have paid the same amount at Best Buy for their in house brand of tv. And it would have worked.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
If the problem really is "loose solder" then the only way to fix it is, for you or someone else to go inside the TV and resolder the connection. There's no other miracle fix.

The Rules, of course I have read them!

For the EMPEROR!!
Buying a used T.V online. Not a good idea.

Though there's nothing wrong with CRT T.Vs'. I've still got my old one and it still works fine and the picture is still very good. I mainly use it on a timer for when I'm at work or away on holiday.

That said. HD TV is the way to go (they kick ass). You can pick them up pretty cheap these days.

bad idea buying a used TV. even worse buying of CL

{don't confuse with Greg C } !

As much as our advice must suck... I have to gice the same as the others:

Do not buy used electric devices online or on flea sales etc.

You think you save some cash, but in most cases you throw money (and soon the device) out of the window.

There are enough low-price shops who sell those things with a guarantee. Go there.

The best advice on this to follow;

1.) Put the thing back on craigslist for sale...go get you a new tv and the offset loss just consider the price of a learning why not to buy someone else tv off of c/l.

2.) Keep the thing and put up with Xmas after the first few mins of watching.

or

3.) Take out your frustrations over the snow by using the thing for target practice.
