Ubisoft CEO in CNBC interview- "development costs for the next gen of consoles will increase up to $60 million a title due to the machines being so powerful that playing a game is going to be the equivalent of playing a CGI movie today".

"consumers will be a bit more impatient than console makers to get a new gen of gaming systems and ONliVE,the company that runs video games on a remote server and deliver them online to create the illusion that youre playing the game locally, could "shake up the timetables" of the three console makers and force them to release new systems before they want to.

This Onlive thing sounds cool from what I read but then it takes the novalty out of going down to the store and having that copy of a new game in your hand. Also, people like myself trade-in games to use the credit towards future purchases ala Gamestop Edge card. $$$ is hard to come by.

Never argue with a fool. People might not know the difference.
The 360, PS3 & Wii are still hot off the production line, and we're already talking about the next generation!?!

If I were the CEO of Ubisoft I wouldn't be too worried about OnLive. Without a fast, reliable (and probably) fibre-optic broadband network and ISPs who don't impose download limits, the home console isn't going to die anytime soon.

I totally agree about Onlive. People will wait to see the reviews on how it runs, than if anyone has just one negative thing to say about the service lagging than nobody will want the thing.

I dont know about you but in my single player games I dont want lag,I want to be able to play them when the internet is down and I dont wanna worry about not being able to get my 12 hour game marathon in when we have a foot of snow on the ground and theres nothing to do but play mad games.

And like you implied, what about the people who cant afford or dont even want fiber optic service like verizon fios????
