US and Russia agree nuclear cuts

US President Barack Obama and Russian President Dmitry Medvedev have reached an outline agreement to cut back their nations' stockpiles of nuclear weapons.

Well the rest of the world can rest in peace that its not going to be blown to smithereens, or can it?

The saddest thing coming out of this summit is that the naive, do gooder academician in Barack Obama actually believes that his Russian counterparts are true to form, honest and well intentioned, regardless of their long history to the contrary.

To anyone who really undertands history its simple.We will all dismantle and eliminate nuclear weapons or we will all die.The things are really usless to boot.You can't use them so what good are they anyway? The world is now so complex intertwined etc anyway that really miltary power is an overrated thing that no longer solves almost anything.Maybe you could go round kicking ass and enforcing your will and make it work once but no more.that applies to everyone Russia,the US etc.Its been made plain by how the so called superpowers are just unable to really force anyone to heel who really doesn't want to for very long.Have you noticed most of the insurgencies (countries trying to rid themselves of foreign powers) almost all win long term no matter how strong the foreign power is?

But back to the disarmament question.If we allow them to exist somebody someday will feel desperate enough to use one and that will be end of us all as once they start dropping it will almost certainly escalate.

Remember trust but verify (who was that Reagan? lol).Well we can easily do that as we could back then with satellites etc.Its really a matter of will to get rid of the weapons,we will know if they break any agreements and they can see the same about us.The russians want agreements and reductions.They would like to save that money and that would be nice for us as well lol.
