US Patriot Act Used In Porn Case... What Next?

Is this what the US Patriot Act is for?

I'm not trying to defend cp here, but I thought the Patriot Act was to help us prevent terrorism and people being killed.

My question... What's the next broadening of it's perview? Is this an indication that they'll use the same approach with downloading mainstream porn if you live in a very conservative area? Or even in a more liberal area, if they just have no other case against you, but you have pissed off someone powerful?

Let's say for example you have a hankerin for a woman who is totally legal, over 18, but has a very youthful look. Like say:

You put some pics in your favorite pics file in good faith, but an FBI man thinks she's under 18. You can't remember what site you downloaded her from, so you don't have the "All models over 18" disclaimer on the site to back you up. Or perhaps the site just no longer exists. (Happens every day).

All you have is a picture on your hard drive that the authorities say is of someone under 18. If you can't prove she's over 18, what's your recourse? Are you now guilty of posessing cp?

And again, I'M NOT DEFENDING CP, HERE, but that would be a mighty powerful charge you could use against someone if you couldn't get your case together on a more legitimate crime, or even if you just wanted to ruin their lives.

Americans, please remember that this is Bush and Co doing this.

the other night I watched enemy of the state with will smith and gene hackman. i thought it interesting how it parallels more today with things like the patriot act than it did when it came out (1995, i think)

I"m embarrassed to confess that I've never read the Patriot Act... then again, neither did the people who voted for it! :eek:

I know it's main purpose is counter-terrorism but I wouldn't be at all surprised if its applications have "broadened."

The Patriot Act from what I've seen, being an outside observer, has slyly and very effectively removed any rights you had V's the state.
Uncle Sam can do what he wants when he wants to you since that Act was passed and you just have to hope he uses lubricant.
