Re: And this is how Democrats play "tit-for-tat" ...

You're absolutely kidding right???

GOPers challenge your patriotism over policy differences and conflate their opponents with terrorists in an effort to effect their policies.

They out people the C.I.A. identifies as one of their NOCs...then try and convince reasonable the C.I.A. doesn't even know the status of their own employee by suggesting the individual didn't have NOC status.

What would you call those who engage in that kind of politics? I mean, we can differ on names or terms but assholes wouldn't be a stretch.

Al Franken was a comedian....he also happens to be a Cum Laud Harvard grad with a degree in Political Science.

Has he said anything as stupid or reckless as Michelle Bachman?? Even as a comedian??

Great points, Hot Mega.

Yeah, so true about Franken, as well. I'm sure I disagree with him on some stuff (from the left), but he's clearly a decent, non-asshole kind of guy (check out the YouTube vid where he calmly, politely talks down a few teabaggers who spout off a bunch of Hannity nonsense), and he's definitely intelligent.

Plus, he can draw an outline map of all 50 United States (cue the National Anthem, boys!)... from memory!

It ain't so hot against Stein. It's easy to use rhetoric, but difficult to back it up against someone of similar education and experience.

I could do that at age 6 and will still probably be able to do that at age 60. No intelligence required. It's visual.

Huh??? Who's Stein? What are you talking about? Ben Stein? Oh geez, I've dismissed him as an ignorant crank ever since his involvement with that ridiculous creationism movie. "Ferris Buehler's Day Off" remains the high point of his career - be it acting or intellectual.

Oh, really, 6? Well, I could do it at 4 - including all major rivers!

Ummm, and Franken went into comedy as well. What's your point?

You're the one that made the point dude, not I. I was just saying it was no big deal.

Oh, so you were just sharing your opinion that Stein is a better comedian than Franken, then? Okay.

As for drawing the US states outline, MY point was only to note the pointlessness of sideways boasts such as yours (you could do that at 6), which of course are entirely unproveable on a forum like this.

No, I said Stein can debate Franken and send him straight into the ground. Franken's rhetoric-based liberalism doesn't do him well against someone like Stein. It might do fine against teabaggers who don't work, but not Stein.

But you first stated it as if "proof" that Franken was an intellectual because he could, well before I said anything. Don't try to change the chronology here. I know you and Mega and select others have a problem with that, but it doesn't do well with people like myself. ;)

My point was that a child of no advanced education could do the same, because it's 100% visual, 0% intellectual. Now if you think I was boasting because I did it at age 6, understand I explicitly stated it required 0% intelligence, 100% visual memory. I wasn't boasting in the least bit, but I'm sorry if you think that such "skill" is intellectual-based. I would be surprised if my IQ was 100. I just spend a lot of my free time educating myself, as I did as a child as well. I loved school.

I played with maps as a young child, well before parental influences in engineering. It requires 0 intellect to redraw a map, and it's more about repeat, visual exposure. My wife could explain that to you, as she's spent over 15 years in education, including 6 years in graduate school, studying different the ways people learn. Now if you want to talk about someone who is smart! That's her.

And she grew up dirt poor without food on her table on many nights, moving from shelter to shelter at times, etc... She can't stand most bleeding heart Democrats for the same reasons, it's lip service, not solutions.

Well, for the most part, declaring winners of debates is a matter of opinion, and I'm sure if they have debated or would debate you'd have an opinion on the matter. HAVE they ever actually debated? I'd like to see that, ESPECIALLY if the topic was "intelligent design"!

But you first stated it as if "proof" that Franken was an intellectual because he could, well before I said anything. Don't try to change the chronology here. I know you and Mega and select others have a problem with that, but it doesn't do well with people like myself. ;)

Here's what I said:
"...he's clearly a decent, non-asshole kind of guy (check out the YouTube vid where he calmly, politely talks down a few teabaggers who spout off a bunch of Hannity nonsense), and he's definitely intelligent.

As you can see, I used the word "plus" indicating that his ability to do that - and do it so well ('cept Cali wasn't quite to scale) - is like some sort of bonus attribute. I didn't use the word "proof" nor did I state or imply that it is proof that Franken's an intellectual. I'm simply impressed with his ability to do it so accurately, and I still am, whether you claim to have been able to do it in your mother's womb, at the age of 6, or whatever... You're beating down a straw man. Fine, it's not related to intellect or intelligence. And???

My point was that a child of no advanced education could do the same, because it's 100% visual, 0% intellectual. Now if you think I was boasting because I did it at age 6, understand I explicitly stated it required 0% intelligence, 100% visual memory. My congratulations on you having a smart wife. :glugglug:

:rolleyes: Oh brother. Straight out of a Lee Greenwood or Toby Keith song. So, her hatred of Democrats is so real and true, and can't be questioned - apparently - because, golly, she "grew up dirt poor without food on her table" etc., etc. I need another drink (hope I can keep it down!).

No, the point was that she hates it when Democrats try to say they are talking about her. She's not a Republican at all. She just grew up and made something of her self, on her own, some with my financial help, some with those of others.

Although if disliking increased taxes because she already comes home with only 40% of her paycheck means she's a Republican, then so be it. She's been labelled as such repeatedly for such a view.

Face it, Van Jones is an extremely polarizing, subversive black radical activist who would like nothing less than a total reconstruction of our government, the exact same as those ever so feisty neo communist debater / bloggers found in ... this thread for instance. :1orglaugh They will always deny the existence of what is because they know that their extreme left ideology would further polarize the democratic party constituency, get it ? The president, of course, leads the way with this sneaky underhanded strategy as he has effectively concealed the identities of all 34 - 35 - 36 +/- or whatever the count is now (I've lost count ) of his unaccountable chairmen / czar(s) / shadow government.
Look 'em up yourself. :dunno:

The regular everyday reasonable middle class working democrats are finally openly admitting to the fact that this one Barrack Obama was the wrong man to put in the white house, after all, they didn't want a total overhaul of our govt, they simply wanted a few adjustments.

Keep doing what you're doing mr president and I'll be watching how you poll :1orglaugh

Mrs Jolly

You can't have everything! Where would you put it?!
I read on one of the grown up right wing blogs that the firing of Van Jones - who has been pro business for quite a few years now -was a loss to mainstream republican sentiments. Republicans have the hardest time attracting any part of the green vote - the linking of "green" with "jobs" was a great "in" to green pastures for the right.

Talk of unelected fiefdoms is great but VJ actually had more power outside of his white house and gave it up for a role where he had no staff to speak of, no budget and little more than symbolic authority. The fear about this affair(for the right) is that the firing of VJ will only intensify the push of those creating the most noise in the republican party at this time. The problem being that without reaching out to the segments of society that will secure future election victories the GOP is solidifying into a strident unelectable rump.

Obviously for the left it would be gratifying if all the current strategies of the right ended up shooting them in the foot. The fact that a sizeable proportion of the right thinks this gives the idea some heft.

Shhhhh.....we all know how facts send Obama critics into a tizzy of rambling, irrelevant babble in all political directions on every political issue since FDR except for the issue they're supposed to be responding to.;)

:ahhem: Obama policy critics, t/y very much. :hatsoff:
and no tizzy here, the calm and collected I am. :scream:
