i personally don't like them and i never used them because i feel that someone is paying for our videos so they shouldn't have to see anything but the action. unfortunately people steal and like many of you are saying, they try to take credit for our work so i might have to start adding them 
i put a short title at the start our our videos but i'm not sure if that's enough these days.

ya, i know it's the right thing to do to protect my stuff. i just wanted to ask you guys to get some good advice

Site watermarks are generally downright useful (for free porn hunters at least). Many times it helps to find an unknown model much more easily than just trying to find by tineye (which is usually fruitless since porn is against tineye's terms of use), porn search engines and (mostly) aimless TGP browsing.
Other than that, I can just repeat what has been already said: put them in a corner and not in a too large font. Invisible watermarks are good to have too. Makes it relatively sure that nobody can remove the watermark easily, at least not without degrading the video quality to an unwatchable degree. Of course none of the invisible watermarking techniques make it completely invisible because the basis of it is exactly in hiding the watermark among the pixel values, but in video material I think the changes compared to the original non-watermarked video are not noticeable.
The large, transparent watermarks in the center of the picture or video... I really hate those and it seems that others hate them too.

I just have to add that making robust invisible watermarks is actually very difficult. The image quality will degrade the more robust you want to make it and the file size will increase, sometimes even significantly. This can't be avoided. The companies selling these programs will naturally want to make just the opposite claims or ignore these issues. You can never trust them unless you can get a trial version of the program which can both read and write watermarks to media and then see for yourself what the results are.

Yep, protect yourself girl. Far too many content stealers out there, spreading shiz around. At least when you watermark, it allows others who see your sexy content to know where to go for more
lately i dont watermark my members area movies for a variety of reasons, mainly because i dont like to compile 2 versions of the same movie (1 for web and 1 for dvd) which takes forever.
if people are gonna rip off your content theres not much you can do about it except DCMA them when you find them, but you can "brand" yourself by repeatedly mentioning your website and your happy members throughout your videos. realize this works, as many people join amateur sites not for the videos alone but for the 1-on-1 interaction they get from the site owner/models/etc. they may can steal a 20 minute video but they cant get the full story behind the scene, interact with other paying members, etc if they are on the outside. i only watermark my free "crap content" that i feed to the tube sites. usually the stuff that doesnt make the final cut, bloopers, etc. free users get the dregs, paying members get the champagne

i appreciate all the input. i notice alot of tv stations watermark their shows and it doesn't bother me so it's a good idea to do it.
the thing that bothers me the most is when someone steals my videos and puts their own watermark on them to promote their site. i guess there's no way to stop that even if i put a watermark on my videos because they can just put theirs over it...
