Didn't know the actual term, but the strategy seems recognizable in many places.

The term gaslight comes from a stage play from the 1930's, Loompanics sold a book by Victor Santoro of the same title of which I've had a copy since the 1990's, about on par with George Hayduke. Entertaining stuff, but really only works on the already weak-minded.
