I thought this was guessed at already. I actually still believe this guy knows what he's talking about. I watched a show where he said, though, whether or not we should be sending signals out to other life forms that we're here because if they receive it and arrive, it usually doesn't go well (he was basing this off the history of how humans act when they arrive at a new land. i.e. the arrival of Europeans to America). Though, I honestly believe we might be the most intelligent life form in the universe. A majority of life in the universe are bacteria or animals that can't really think outside their own world. They just try to survive day-by-day. But honestly, even to legitimately start a permanent colonization at a place like Mars will take about 1,000 years National Geographic predicted (granted that includes actually making the planet itself livable)
Edit: Also, I think we should start preparing a way to defend ourselves against an asteroid as that is definitely more of a threat than a lot of other things. The world is due for such a global catastrophe
