What was your first job

Most of use worked when we were in high school so what was your job back then did you like it?

Assistant maintainance at a Nursing Home/Hospital. Job has scarred me for life as I live in fear of ending up like the patients in that Nursing home & have disdain for people who 'CASUALLY'(I know sometimes it's unavoidable) put the elderly away.

Just the thought of being old/young & incapacitated & depending on someone for me to live makes me miserable. Certainly hope my life doesn't end that way.:(

Gave me sympathy to the horroble plight of people like Terri Shiavo.

My first job was great.

I started working just to give a hand with some book shelfing at a book store / music shop which had become a favorite after-school haunt. She also sold baseball cards. As I proved useful I gained employment after school. I was given the benefits of keeping magazines and books which went unsold, she had me tear the cover sleeves to be returned in exchange for cash with the magazines.

As well, and best of all, she gave me a 75% off deal twice per month on baseball cards and an occasional deal on collectible baseball paraphernalia. That along with the occasional tapes followed by cd's... yeah she gave me some excellent job incentives for a young kid. Best boss I ever had by far and a great job. Oh yeah, this was when I was a 10 yr old youngster.

Good times.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Gas Station. It sucked. I got fired, went and worked in a restaurant. I then proceeded to have a blast for the next 8 years or so. Every kid should work in a restaurant. It'll teach them about life. Real life.

I had several.

There was this factory where they lay a thin coating on wood (or board) used for making kitchens for example. On saturday mornings the factury was closed for maintenance, so me and a bunch of other guys climbed in and around these huge machines to clean them. There was mechanical maintenance as well, so whenever you heard a sirene you had 10 seconds to get out if you didn't want to get hurt.

Worked in a printing office (or is it pressroom in English?) as well. Boring. Had to stack the printed papers on pallets.

Worked for a while with a photographer who mainly took pictures for commercial use, like for example an add in a paper for furniture. We had to set up an entire room with fake walls and windows, lay the floor, put the furniture in it. He would take a picture of it. And after that we broke it down again to set up a new decor. Sometimes we really could kill that guy: "No I don't like that wooden floor, do it again...". The only fucking thing he ever did was just take the picture and sitting on his ugly ass.

Had one reward though. Once he had to take pictures for sunbeds and there was this chick who got naked to be part of the decor. We weren't allowed to be in the room at the same time, but we had our places for a good view non the less.

Maybe... but that probably isn't a good thing. What I do is controversial in the 'Bible Belt'.

Agreed.

My first non-official job was cutting grass as a kid in the neighborhood to make money. My first "real" job was at a drug store, working at the register, stockroom, whatever they wanted me to do. Wasn't all that bad looking back, and it did teach me the value of money!
