basically a dude with two swords took around 20 children hostage at a kindergarten...so what's up with crazy people with swords? and follow up question could it be due to my love of highlander?

Most european countries have some sort of gunlaws (unlike the US where it seems like any psychopath can just go into the nearest supermarket and buy a gun), so psycho´s have to get a bit more creative when they´re get one of their psychosises.

Yup, psychopaths can somehow get guns here in the U.S., so that's why non-psychopaths can also go get their own guns if they choose to do so that if some psychopath in one of his psychosis goes on a rampage the non-psychopaths can defend themselves, after all, there's never a cop around when you need one.

Had that psychopath done that here in the U.S., particularly here in Texas, it probably would have looked like that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indy vs. the swordsman.
