whats the difference between a notebook and a laptop can you help me out please thanks in advance

I think the terminology, the nomenclature, often confuses; just buy what you feel is correct for you. I suspect one could say netbooks have a 'limited' screen size of between 9 and 11 inches; a slightly more cramped, but fully functioning, keyboard (which often goes right to the edge of the chassis); a lack of an optical drive (overcome by purchasing a usb external); and a smaller hard drive (say, between 80 - 160GB). Sometimes the OS is installed on a smaller SSD :)

A woman is an occasional pleasure but a cigar is always a smoke.
A laptop is a more complete computer, notebooks usually allow for an office suite, some media apps and internet, but not much more.

...In which case, gaming sites can be very processor and memory intensive. A netbook might not be the best option (esp. when you consider the limitations of the graphics component); probably better off a with a fully-fledged laptop.

Laptop is a general term for a computer with an integrated monitor. A notebook typically is used to describe smaller, lighter laptops (particularly popular with business people). The $300 laptops you saw are netbooks, and are essentially stripped down laptops designed to provide minimal functionality (word processing, Internet browsing).
