Man this country has ageism ingrained in it's culture. We're such a throwaway nation where something is old after a few months let alone 30+ years. At 40 everyone becomes "old" and at 45+ you should be looking for burial plots. Jeez.
Guess the whole satisfaction is knowing all the ageists in their "young" age have their turn to be called "old" or "past their prime" in future and there's nothing they can do about it.

Like most people here have said there are a number of factors. Lots of women binge drink nowadays and that ages them so you would say they look 'past it' yet their age is still young. Then you get stress that gets us men and women, hair falling out turning grey and working too hard and not eating well can lower your immunity inviting a whole host of diseases in that will also age you.
