When youve got a racing mind

PJpenny

Piss off - I'm wanking
How do you clear your head of all the thoughts that feel like theyre going around and around. I guess a simpler way to put it, how do you clear your mind?

that used to be a problem for me. so much so it led to my first panic attack a few years ago.

leaving the situation, closing your eyes, and taking nice deep breaths can help.

as can finding another activity to keep you busy that u can concentrate on that instead of whatever else has got you all bonkers.

it really depends on the situation and whats going on.

i also believe in qi so working with your qi can really change your state of mind and body.

I'd check my blood pressure and go from there. Do you feel as if you have a shortness of breath and are you overcome with the feeling of impending doom?
In a nutshell, verify that this unpleasant sensation is in fact in your head and if it is, consider yourself lucky!

Also, I'd probably be taking a baby aspirin each day to maintain the optimum blood flow... it couldn't hurt. ;)

I'm secretly in love with Ron Jeremy!
I usually keep a GOOD book (not a boring one) handy and read from it. It helps me concentrate on the story without getting physically agitated. After a few pages, it's all good and my mind is clear.
Laying down, eyes closed and taking deep breaths should work too.

Racing is life... anything else is just waiting.
I try to channel my thoughts into something productive and write those thoughts down. I used to keep a notepad beside my bed. There were times that I'd get up from a sound sleep and write for hours on end. The best deal I ever formed was when I was in my 20's, and it was written on notebook paper over a couple of days... when I didn't sleep at all (long periods of not sleeping produce a sort of euphoric state). But if you can't control that sort of behavior, it's likely the first step toward insanity. And if that's the case, I think the best thing to do is to just embrace your crazy. Go with it. Get in tune with it.

Uh... gotta go now. The voices are telling me that the dog wants to be fed.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Depends on what you mean by 'racing'. If it's to mean you have tons of trouble on your mind..that is one thing. If it is that you can't focus because you just have random thoughts clashing in your head..that would be another...Which is it..

Yeh. Depending on what is happening in my mind will dictate how I will deal with it. If it is a whole bunch of stuff I need to get done, that is stressing me and troubling me, I orgainse. Write it down or whatever and start sorting out what needs to be done and when etc. Though hoestly, best way to deal with that is not procrastinate like myself. I am horrible for it.

If it is just a scattered brain then music. I chill out and listen to some chilled songs. Nothing heavy. Also a no brainer film I have seen before works as well. Just easy and mind clearing, as a distraction. I have tried reading, but only works with books that I know and are easy. More complicated books can get me annoyed and frustrated, compounding the problem. Just try something and see I guess.
