Here's why:

That site is like many sites in that they block hotlinked images from their site, so that their bandwidth is not compromised.

The pic worked for you the first time, and the second time, because it was in your cache. Once your cache is cleared, it would disappear again, and the only way to see it is to do a cut & paste, which many members won't do, because it takes a few extra seconds of their precious time.
