Will texas leave the union

I wish states did have the right to leave the Union. Some states are better off than others and should be able to simply take care of their own, and it is a constitutional right, I believe. I think America was a better country under the Articles, but I have not devoted enough to the subject to opine thoroughly. But it is intruiging to think about it. 50 little "countries" with their own rights and abilities. Imagine how much better we'd be off w/out a federal goverment. :hatsoff:

We don't have to imagine how it would be for there are two examples of its failure. The first government of the USA was a lose confederation and failed. Second, one of the reasons the south failed in the Civil War (Not the War of Northern Aggression) was that the southern states were more concerned with states rights than the goals of the Confederate States Of America.

You're right, but Texas, Alaska or even California would function just fine as independent countries. Alaska would fair the best of the bunch, but it will never happen. I would think it would take a referendum in the state's legislature, then I'm sure it would have to go the House and Senate as a constitutional amendment -- it would never make it.

All the states are stuck with each other as a sometimes happy and unhappy marriage.

America just isn't lucky enough to have Texas leave the union. :1orglaugh

As a proud Texan I totally resent that comment, D-Rock. Texas is the greatest state in the union regardless of political leanings as far as I am concerned. What state are you from? Tell me so I can throw some mud at you.

That said, Texas is likely the most reactionary state in the nation and 10 years of Rick Perry is WAY too much. I hope that Bil White can beat him but I fear the conservative wave will give Perry an unprecedented 14 consecutive years as the governor of the Lone Star state. That's just not right....the man is a danger to the entire nation. God forbid he be elected President....you think W was bad?? Rick Perry wants to be king.

If Texas were to leave the union, at least the World Series would be a true World Series (should they figure out how to beat the Yankees). -
