Not to speak ill of the dead but Hunter Thompson was a cock chugging jackass. About 15 years ago he got righteously busted for DUI in Aspen. He hired a couple lawyers to fight every procedure the coppers utilized, from their probable cause (driving over the center line), to the validity of breathalyzer tests. They filed so many frivolous motions that the people's case was finally reduced to a few simple misdemeanors. Everyone in town knew he'd get his drink on nightly and never thought twice about getting behind the wheel. He was a self entitled prick who got lucky with one book, that to be honest, wasn't even that good. At least he knew enough about himself to realize that he was a hack and chewed on the barrel of a gun. Fuck that guy, right in the ear. l

I find every great person is just a regular person that did something you admire or can relate to or emulate in some way.

Typically dig deep enough and every mentor or idol is a piece of shit; just like everyone else.

Appreciate what you can without putting them on a pedestal or rejecting them entirely, at least that's what I try to do.
