Agreed. If you're open-minded and seek to appreciate rather than criticize you can find gems in almost all genres IMO.

It's just like eating food if your palette isn't familiar with the taste of a type of food...you have acclimate your palette to them. Music in many cases is the same.

I don't think you should frown on any kind of music on the basis that we must 'think of the children!' The best art has always flown in the face of accepted moral behaviour. Surely it's more important to deal with the social situations which foster desperate materialism and violence than criticise music for being occasionally obnoxious and difficult to stomach?

It makes sense really. The fact that so many people vocally dislike it shows that it pushes buttons. And when music pushes people's buttons like that and causes a reaction, just as many people will really like it as really dislike it.

I think rap is pretty much the only adventurous and exciting form of music around right now, on the whole. But what's exhilerating and fresh to some people is going to be baffling crap to a lot of others.

As for country music... I am one of the baffled.

I dislike Opera and Polka,but that doesn't really mean that they are bad.But hands down(at least to me) without a doubt the worst music ever,is the hip hop sub genre of krunk.

I dislike Country and yet it is popular because the MAJORITY of people enjoy it.
Same goes for Rap/Hip Hop. You might not enjoy it,but I do,and right now it is the most POPULAR music/form of entertainment right now.:thumbsup:

Well you can stay in the MAJORITY......while I'll stay way over here in the MINORITY with the good stuff

On a sidenote, I seriously doubt rap is the most popular form of entertainment right now because the music industry is struggling. I don't have time nor the care to do the research but it would probably be between video games, mainstream movies, or porn :2 cents:
