I need to clean my screen
Im guessin he meant 'havent won a playoff game since 91' which was their only playoff win. But, its still too soon to start thinking superbowl here....afterall, were just barely half way through our 100 year rebuilding program.

I support thongs.
Another Pittsburgh team: namely, the Penguins. That bunch get blatant special treatment from the NHL and has for years. If they had been required to abide by the same rules as, say, the Phoenix Coyotes, they would have long since been forced to move to Seattle, Kansas City, or some other venue. Moreover, they tanked deliberately for several seasons to get prime draft choices--and were allowed to get away with it, coming off scott-free. I could go on, but that franchise has had a major hand in assisting Gary Bettman in ruining the NHL: they're the poster boys for all that's wrong with the game today.

You can't have everything! Where would you put it?!
Don't be shocked if they beat the Stillers this weekend.

Vice versa.

There is a perverse fun in being a Bengals fan. I have lived all over the US but always take my Bengals gear with me - with the exception of Cleveland - people are always positive in their responses. I guess they don't feel threatened.

The Brown family will be worried about the rise of University of Cincinnati. The Browns moaned for and got a new stadium and have not done much to excite the people who paid for the facility and the new inflated entrance fee. Across town a few years ago the university stepped up a conference, where it was thought they would be the division whipping boys, instead they have come on mightily and now look set to dominate this season. UC for historical reasons is one of the few college venues where you can get a beer at the game! In these grim times (the Bengals had to give tickets away for the opening game to secure TV coverage) the Browns won't want to be splitting the entertainment dollar with a popular and rampant UC.

Fuck 'em I say.

For those of you who follow these things, our coach Brian Kelly will be the next coach of Notre Dame - he said it is the one job he would never turn down.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Out of that list it's hard for me not to pick the Detroit Lions or the Pittsburgh Pirates, but I'm going with the Clippers. At least the other teams were very good at some point in history.

A woman is an occasional pleasure but a cigar is always a smoke.
Washington Nationals. They got dumped by Canada.

You are right that they suck but they where never dumped by canada , if the people in montreal had their choice they would have kept the expos.

The One and Only Big Daddy
The Oakland Raiders until Al Davis gives it up they are the worst I know he is the owner but he is just fucking up big time once a proud team and feared in the NFL now just a bunch of junk.Pretty sad

The Expos were a good to great team through much of the 80's and 90's and on the verge of a Pennant before the strike. The league sold them out... the Nationals on the other hand are one of histories worst teams though.

Toronto Maple Leafs....

you're right, i was just going to add this.

haven't won the cup since 1967, haven't made playoffs for three years, and because they continue to sell tickets, they have no intention of improving things. that has pretty much been stated by the owners and the current general manager.

just enough effort to sell tickets, but not win games. fuckers.

Two years before they moved, they had a winning record - two years in a row.
Yes, during the strike year of 1994, they were denied a playoff spot, but their only playoff appearance (1981) was a gift, thanks to the split-playoff design created by Bowie Kuhn because of that year's strike. Montreal played Philadelphia that year in the East's Divisional Series...even though the St. Louis Cardinals had the best record in the Eastern Division for the year.

Not to blame it on one person, but it seems that the Nationals began achieving their epitome of suckdom when Jim Bowden began taking free reign of the ball club.
Then again, this is partially because I think the man known as LeatherPants did the same thing to the Reds.

What can I buy for 100 FreeOnes points?
The Detroit Lions, without a doubt.

Their era of mismanagement goes back to the days of Barry Sanders.

Another poster touched on an excellent point.

While the Pittsburgh Pirates are also a terribly underachieving ball club, they can fall back somewhat on the excuse of small market teams having little to no chance in today MLB.

The Lions, however, have no excuse. No only is there parity in regards to financial resources, but there is also the NFL Draft to consider.

The Lions manage perennially to obtain high draft picks, but somehow, manage to do absolutely nothing with the pool of young talent they have access to.

If you wish to live wisely, ignore sayings including this one.
I guess you have to look at it a couple of different ways.

1)Futility
2)Profitiability

If we are talking strictly about how futile a team is,there is no way that any other team trumps the Cubs.Think about it,not a single soul that has an account here at FreeOnes,or there parents, have ever witnessed a Cubs Championship, and they haven't even been to the Series since 1945.But even through their futility, people still show up in droves to see these pathetic losers.

If we are talking about bad franchises as a business,I don't know how anyone can really say the Lions(or any NFL team for that matter).Sure the team has sucked for many years, but every home game they have a respectable attendance for a team that went 0-16 one year ago.Same thing goes for the Chief and the Raiders.

No one shows up to Marlins games, even when they win, same with the TB Rays, who only drew a crowd only when they got into the playoffs, and they had a really good team throughout the entire season.

I guess in the current day,I would have to really say the Pirates, taking both aspects into account. They just built a brand new stadium and management doesn't even try to put a good product on the field to fill it.And even though it's not a huge market,it seem like the fans there would love to be able to go to a baseball game where their team is actually good.I almost feel sorry for them.

At runner up,I guess you could throw the Nationals in there, along with the Orioles.

There are a lot of other pathetic franchises too, like the Clippers,Golden State Warriors,Phoenix Coyote,Florida Panthers,St. Louis Blues, but these are just teams that are so bad that you don't even really care.

Torn & Frayed.
Oakland Raider's; Al Davis has singlehandedly destroyed a once storied franchise......
Until Al dies or retires the Raider's will be screwed.

I can-and will- say the exact same thing about Peter Angelos in regards to the Baltimore Orioles. He's done everything in his power to destroy the Oriole Way.As previously mentioned, the last winning season the Orioles had was in '97,and if it wasn't for Peters' massive ego, that would've been just a warmup for '98....as it stands, the freefall can be traced directly back to Angelos firing Davey Johnson.

But all hope is not lost....Pecker Angelos has finally gotten it through is thick skull that he doesn't know the first fucking thing about running a baseball team, and haned the reins over to those that do.

It's going to take a few years (more),but the turnaround is underway......

Kneel before my awesomeness!
I only really follow the NBA and the Clippers have been bad forever (with one small exception) Also it seems that Donald Sterling is one of the worst owners and most contempible individuals on the sporting landscape so that's enough to get my vote
