Yes. I have intervened a couple of times when I've seen girls roughed up by men. This has happened outside a couple of clubs. The guys were drunk and fairly easy to discourage -- with their beer goggles on, they probably couldn't understand how this "girl" so easily pinned them up against the wall. :o

In other situtations, I may just call the cops. Men fighting men is ugly and often they are armed with something. That's too extreme for me :eek:

I actually roughed up one of my childhood friends a few years ago. He was in my living room with some broad and I was in my room. He got chippy with her and we had to drop his drunk ass off. When he pulled me out of the car looking for a fight, I fractured his skull and he was sent to the hospital. It was pretty good considering I was tanked as well. I'd rather give a girl pepper spray or a stun gun. The worst thing I'd hand a girl is that knife that's inside a lipstick container. I wouldn't trust a girl with a gun or a knife, because I'd be concerned that she'd get overpowered by a stronger opponent and get injured. :dunno::2 cents:

I worked with a woman that while she was pregnant and washing dishes her husband started beating on her because she reminded him to put his empties in a special trash can she bought. Just for that purpose mind you.

She took an iron skillet to his head and cracked it from his forehead back. He survived and she went to jail for a while.

You wouldn't have guessed it just looking at her.

As far as intervening with drunks I tend not to unless it was someone looking like they might die. I don't care if you get drunk pick a fight get punched fall down and shit your pants lying there for 10min. That's on you. I will however make sure you don't throw-up and choke yourself to death.

If I heard a potential rape going down I'd call the cops and intervene...not necessarily in that order. I'd also probably fuck up and get killed in the process if the dude or dudes were really serious, as I don't carry a knife or gun.

Whether I would intervene or not where one or more parties are being wronged would depend on a lot of factors. It would be hard to say what I would do in the absence of specific circumstances, but the biggest factors deciding it is how much risk I'm putting myself in and how effective would I be if I got involved.

If I could step in without a reason to think there would be too much risk to myself and I could be effective in stopping an attacker then I would like to think I would do so.

If on the other hand if it looks like all that's probably going to happen is both the victim and now me will get our asses kicked badly or we are now both going to get killed then I probably wouldn't get involved and I would call for help instead.

Another problem is that it's not always easy to tell how much risk is involved with something like that, especially when time is of the essence and a decision needs to be made quickly. I can see where a lot of people would rightly feel hesitant about a situation that could possibly escalate way more than seems possible.

Would I intervene in the US? Perhaps 10 years ago I would, but these days I'll call the cops and be on my way. Otherwise someone might decide to sue me for being a decent human being trying to help out a fellow human being.

Here in the NL? Probably not either due to the laws. Hell, if you're getting robbed or raped and hurt the guilty party in self defense, you're the one that's going to spend time in jail.
