Would you intervene if...

If FreeOnes was a woman, I'd marry her!
I was actually thinking about this, in a way, last night. In this day and age, most people are quicker to pull out their camera phones to record the incident rather than try to involve themselves in, or defuse it.

Fucking YouTube generation, makes me sick.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.
Would I intervene in the US? Perhaps 10 years ago I would, but these days I'll call the cops and be on my way. Otherwise someone might decide to sue me for being a decent human being trying to help out a fellow human being.

Here in the NL? Probably not either due to the laws. Hell, if you're getting robbed or raped and hurt the guilty party in self defense, you're the one that's going to spend time in jail.

That might be one of the few good things about being poor. You have nothing somebody else could sue you out of. Sometimes that can be a powerful advantage if used right. So if somebody threatened me with that after I got in an altercation with them to rightfully defend another person, I could just shrug or laugh at them.

Good point....More because of stupid people in the US. It is not far-fetched to grab some clown off of pounding snot out of some chick only to find the chick beating on your back for attacking her baby daddy.

Yes, I bribed and cheated to get this far

That's why I'm glad I'm old school! :D We still practice the etiquette of chivalry and the pursuit of justice above personal need! :batman::glugglug:

Probably the only reason that I'm proud to have grown up dirt broke! :D:glugglug:

Good reason for tort reform.

A woman is an occasional pleasure but a cigar is always a smoke.

There was a big story about that here in Maryland recently (and I've seen it mentioned on this board, too). There was a transsexual woman getting beaten up by two girls inside of a McDonald's. The employees did nothing to help her, but the one guy started filming on his cell phone. Finally an old woman stepped in and helped break it up.

While people might not have approved of The Jerry Springer Show and its popularity back in the late '90s (I personally am a fan of the classic show), this is far worse.

I changed my middle-name to Freeones
I intervened once. It was at a bar and I saw a guy outside slapping his gf/wife around. I went out and stopped the guy. He took a few shots at me and I just pushed him back as I got the girl to come back into the bar with me. The bar owner and a buddy of mine then made sure the guy was not coming in. After a few minutes he got in his truck and left and a couple women in the bar sat the gf/wife down and tried to relax her and all. She was pretty shaken up by it, obviously.

Well, MY Gf wasn't too happy about it. She hated that it could have went really bad for me and thought I may have been a bit reckless. I didn't think so at all, but later that night I realized that this woman is eventually going to go back home and nobody would be there to "protect" her when she did. So the reality began to sink in and all I could do was watch the news and hope that she wasn't in any story the n ext day.

It's tough to say what I'd do if I saw a man getting beaten. I'd obviously call the cops, but I am also licensed to carry a concealed firearm. If I saw a man who was being beaten to death, that would be a tough call. Legally I'd be justified to use it to protect somebody like that (either by drawing it or actually firing it) but that's something that I don't ever want to have to even consider. That's why I stay away from bad areas, stupid situations and idiots. The days of going to bars or hitting the city and walking 8 blocks to see a show are long gone.
