WWE Releases Kurt Angle

Due to personal issues, Kurt Angle has been granted an early release from his contract. WWE looks forward to establishing a new relationship with Kurt in the near future.

The only Olympic gold medalist in WWE history, Kurt Angle arrived in 1999 and quickly became one of the most decorated champions in sports-entertainment history. "The Wrestling Machine" is not only a six-time World Champion, but also held the Intercontinental Championship and WWE Tag Team Championship; he also won the 2000 King of the Ring tournament. Recently joining ECW, Angle’s unmatched intensity was rivaled only by his technical and athletic in-ring prowess.


This was posted on wwe.com sometime today. Hopefully he will be back in the very near future. Anyone have any thoughts on this news?

I was a HUGE WWF fan when i was a kid.... the days of the undertaker, shawn michaels, bret hart, jake the snake, british bulldog, macho man, Big Boss Man, The Rock, Stone Cold - those were the glory days for the WWF.

Now, its all about UFC.

I would hope not. Kurt Angle has always seemed too injured the past few years. I'm surprised he has lasted as long as he did with all the problems he had with this neck. I would hate to see what would happen with people that are actually trying to hurt him.

Kurt Angle...no...He was IMO one of the best ever...great wrestler, he knew how to wrestle (not like Hulk Hogan or like Stone cold..no offense) but he was a Wrestler...and he had some great Mic skills...hope he comes back one day

stone cold, when he began, DID know how to wrestle. in fact, he was technically sound. that ended when the attitude era began.

Kurt Angle was one like one of the best guys on the roster if not they best buy on the roster, and knew how to wrestle his ass off. H was a great champion if ECW does not work out sure he has other options I believe.

I go back to Bruno Sammartino, Tony Garea, Larry Zbyszko, Superstar Billy Graham, Ken Patera, Chief Jay Strongbow, and the greatest of all, Andre The Giant. THOSE were the glory days.

Kurt ASKED for his release, so it might be related to his mounting injuries. I personally can't blame him, and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors.

It's really 50/50 over it being kayfabe or not. No wrestling sources have indicated this, other than WWE.com. And with Cole running WWE.com, it's being used more for kayfabe articles.

Prior to this, there were speculations and thoughts about his return to SD!

yeah Angle probably did want his release due to many many nagging injuries...but I still dont see why the WWE could have him fill in another role..or maybe its the travel schedule and being away from his family so many nights of the year....either way he will be remebered as one of the great ones...
