WWE Releases Kurt Angle

Mr. Daystar

In a bell tower, watching you through cross hairs.
If it said personal reasons, it's probably medical, or family...it doesn't sound like he wanted to go, but needed to. My guess is he'll be back one day, in some way, shape or form. Maybe he's involved in training guys for the next olympics...maybe HE'S going to the next olympics.

wrestling eh?

*yawn*

if you don't like wrestling, why look in a wrestling related thread.
and why post a message like that in a thread full of wrestling fans... people like you really irritate us wrestling fans.

angle wanted to leave, wwe just granted him that wish, dont know why he wanted out yet[/QUOTE

yeah Angle probably did want his release due to many many nagging injuries...but I still dont see why the WWE could have him fill in another role..or maybe its the travel schedule and being away from his family so many nights of the year....either way he will be remebered as one of the great ones...

a fact of the matter is, i do think it is family. he has an impending divorce. and since he has a daughter, i am thinking he wants to be with her for a while during his hard times. i do think he will be back. he was way too good of a talent.

that sounds about right to me.
he has already split with his wife, Karen once and they got back together so he probably just needs to spend some time with his family for a while.

Right first Senor_Cheese35 Undertaker, HBK and some others you mention are still wrestling and some in the WWE.

Now Angle has come out his contract for two reasons really. One thing for certain he won't be going to TNA. This is due to the fact doctors have told him to stop wrestling or end up in a wheelchair. Like Stonecold his neck is that bad he could end up handicapped. Also he has major family issues to deal with both with his wife, daughter and also others too.

IMO I'm glad he has, yes he was a great wrestler and entertainer. But of late his image is so boring it's untrue. The best thing Kurt could do was clown around, act the fool. He did a show where he teamed with the Undertaker in a tag match once. It was the main event and all through the program was little clips with how he was in shock, afraid, excited. When he finally met Taker before going out together he was in awe of him and all he could say was "yeah me and the UNDERTAKER together" and he got on his knees nearly kissing Takers feet. It was brilliant and always sticks in my memory.

Kurt Angle comments on his release from WWE

“My body is so beat up and run down, I can’t even think straight,” Kurt Angle tells WWE.com in an exclusive interview Saturday concerning his early release from his contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. Angle and WWE officials mutually agreed to end Angle’s relationship with the company on Friday.

Angle says seven years of non-stop wrestling has taken a major toll on his body, his mind and his family. “I need my body to reheal and rehab, I have done this for too long without a break. I haven’t been able to really enjoy my life. I haven’t seen my family, I’ve had problems with medication - I’m just fried physically and mentally.”

Angle’s business manager David Hawk claims, “Kurt’s in a tremendous amount of pain, he’s used prescription medication to deal with it. Kurt has come to the conclusion that unless he can get in the ring without the use of pain medication then he doesn’t need to be in there. He realizes he was just endangering himself and his opponents.”

The last straw for Angle seems to have occurred on August 13th, 2006, at an ECW live event in White Plains, New York. Angle was wrestling Rob Van Dam in a match where both competitors were fueled by the passionate ECW fans. “The crowd was wild,” Angle says. “Early on in the match, I pulled my groin, but I kept going, feeding off the crowd. Then I pulled my abdominal muscle off the pelvic bone, but I kept going as the crowd grew more wild. Finally, I blew out my hamstring, but we finished the match. The crowd stood and applauded - a standing ovation and that meant so much to me.”

Ironically that would be Angle’s last match.

WWE.com asked Angle if he would ever return to competition in WWE. Angle says “I can’t tell you that right now, I need to heal up mentally and physically. Until then, I can’t even think about returning.”

But Angle says WWE Chairman Vince McMahon told him the door is always open. “Vince says when I’m ready, if I’m ever ready, to come back just sign on the dotted line. I’ll tell you if I do return I’m going back to my roots, training on the mat like my amateur days. Longevity is the key.”

Hawk seems confident Angle will be in the ring again someday.

Angle has a final message to his legion of WWE and ECW fans. “Don’t be concerned, this move was for the best. It was a privilege to be able to compete for all of you. I’d like to say thank you.”

WWE.com will continue to follow up on Kurt Angle over the next several months.

i think it was a privilege to watch kurt work. talent like that doesnt come around too often.

According to Mike Johnson, Kurt Angle and his agent met with Vince McMahon Friday afternoon in Stamford, CT. McMahon demanded of Angle that he seek help and take action for his recent personal problems and injuries. These demands were refused by Angle and he was released from the company. Angle did not ask for his release. Right now it is not known if Angle has a 90-day no compete clause on his contract or not but most likley he does. The WWE is interested in bringing Angle back but only if or when he gets his life and problems in order.

Stek, Stevie did you read this as it told you everything you've copied and pasted on this thread already. Except I used my own words and put it basic.

I just realized there's a bunch of people in England watching wrestling. Has this always been the case? I knew one kid that did in school, Amjad. Also when I lived in Manchester kids used to do DDTs on me in the cloakroom (you laugh, it hurt at the time)... it just ocurred to me... Poggy, Stek... so is wrestling big in England or something?

Fox

The WWE first came onto British screens in the 80's when Sky TV first started up. Up till then you'd have to really search video shops for tapes of it. But when it first aired it was very small and Sky brokered a 10 year deal in the early nighties to show all WWE programs for something like 100,000 pounds. This included all the PPV's free of charge. But that deal run out a few years ago and it cost them a fortune for the seconded deal, something like 10 million for all the shows. But also PPV are PPV's now except for 4 free ones a year and they are small ones like The Great American Bash.

It was huge over here during the 90's and most 10 - mid 30 year olds was watching it. But thats was then, now it's known about but not watched by everyone. In fact like me most people usually only end up watching it if nothing else is on. The only reason I'm usually right up to date on it is a work mate never talks about anything else just about.

Whats the problem with providing info that has been credited to a major name in wrestling news? Yes, what you said is similar to his situation, and the credited information backs that.

But all I was saying was why copy and paste something onto a thread I'd already posted. For all you know I could have been a major source in wrestling. As thats not really hard to become as it's all over the net and most wrestlers have their own sites and myspace and so on.

Plus this story was 3 weeks old before it was posted on here anyway. As it was already known Kurt had got to quit with injuries in the next month or so. Just with his added personal problems it's come now.

You might aswell post a link to the story rather than copy and paste it anyway.

To show confirmation of a credited wrestling site, ie. Gerweck.net. Ran by wrestling news reporter and insider, Steve Gerweck. As your opinion is nothing more than that, your opinion, until proven. And yes, there are many sources, but the ones to believe more are ones like Gerweck.net, PWInsider.com, The Wrestling Observer and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

The smaller news sites are credited because they get their news from PWI/WO/S. Gerweck. :ban:
