so this clear out thing....
does that delete downloaded games?
does that delete the regular games ive installed to my hard drive?
what am i all losin here?

You dont lose anything other than game updates which re-install when you plug the game back in to the 360 for the first time after cache clear.

Everyone should do the cache clear here and there whether youre having probs or not. Its good for the machine. If you have updates to games that have been traded into gamestop 6 months ago theres no reason to have those updates in your hardrives cache........

so i sent my 360 in for repair shipping it monday.
i asked a few people @ 2 different gamestops if they knew anyone who has had it (RROD) and sent theirs in and how long it took.
one guy told me a friend of his got his back in 3 months!
another told me he had and it took about 3 weeks to a month right in that area.
i got this email from microsoft this morning
We are happy to let you know that your request to have your console repaired is now complete and we are preparing to ship your console back to you.
:nanner:

:glugglug:

I had to send two consoles so far and each time it took about 5 or 6 days to get them back. And I got 1 month of xbox live each time as well.

OK...so the horror stories of months to get the system back might be greatly exajerated?
mine a few 5 days or so.
you 5 or 6 days...
who has these 3 month issues?.... suckas!

I think it took months in the beginning because they actually repaired your xbox before returning it to you. Now the way it works is that they take your xbox in but they send you another xbox that is already repaired.

if that is the case why do they ask for the serial # from the system?
i was figuring i was getting back mine. it wouldn't make sense to give the serial # then ship a different unit would it? i would think they would have even more problems on their hands than the over 1 billion they already spent on the RROD's

They ask for the serial to verify the date of manufacture. It's basically Microsofts way to check to make sure your warranty is still good. It's a lot easier that way to keep track of which units are defective and which aren't, and an even easier way to get the old faulty units out of public use.

well that didn't happen, i actually got it back yesterday so it was 10 business days or 12 days total from shipment out to shipment received. i think im still gonig to give Kudos to MS for such a quick turnaround and just in time for the new DLC for Fallout 3!

Kudos indeed, they have now become a very well known company that can replace all their broken shit in a timely fashion. All these lemons for consoles have made them work faster in that department.......at least something good came out of this.
