I like it. It screams hey you, Mr. policeman, I'm doing 100 in a 35 zone.

I am a little surprised they didn't do something about the drivers side front rim, at least for the photos.

I think it's funny as fuck, but the reality is, it sticks out like a soar thumb, and would likely make it easier to identify. Now maybe if you had a set of those James Bond, flipping license plate things. I'm curious if it's technically illegal. There are a lot of little nit picky things that are technically law, but cops let them slide.

The 007 license plate is illegal, but I don't think there are any laws preventing you from replacing a logo. Many cars look similar enough that the average witness would misidentify the car if it had the the wrong logo.
Pretty much every APB mentions the manufacturer, so just swapping out the logo could be a way of throwing off the scent.

I ran out of lube. Can I borrow yours?
I have done a lot of work on cars over the years. Even had a home based paint shop for a while in the 80's. Not a pro by any means but I guess it would be called respectable. Lots of separate skill for sure. My ex Brother-in-Laws father made his living and raised his family by restoring Model A's One or two a year. he was an expert. Now the cost of restorations is so immense it is almost pointless for most people to attempt. And most are not really interested anymore anyway.

Thank Barrett-Jackson as they are essentially the ones who took American Muscle Cars out of the hands of the true car guys and made them an "investment" for the rich asshats that could not even change their oil.
Thanks Craig........you bastard.

I can't understand why people always have to tinker. If it isn't broke, don't fix it! Even I'm guilty of it. I did it to an old Harley I had. I rode it the year I bought it, then that winter tore it apart, and spent about $2500 hot rodding it. This was 25 years ago, so $2500 was a lot. It would have run for a couple of years before I would have had to redo it. Shovel heads get about 25k miles on them, before certain things need to be redone to the engine.

Cost would be my guess. Just a standard non fancy 4x4 extended cab is at least $45-$50k, and that's on the low side. I didn't notice a price listed in the article, and you know what they say, if you have to ask, you can't afford it. I'll throw out the number $170,000 for that rig.

Monkey See, Monkey Do out here with everybody buying Teslas. You could drive 5 miles on the Westside and see 60 of them. My wife went out with some work friends for dinner the other night telling me 3 of the gals had Teslas. I asked her how they would admire each others' cars. I'd rather be a regular White Boy driving a nice pick-up truck.

Ugh.. Don't expect cars to get "much" cheaper anytime soon. Some tidbits:

A study by economist Michael Havlin, published by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, found that dealer markups accounted for 35% to 62% of total new-vehicle consumer inflation from 2019 to 2022.

The generation of cars that would typically be coming off three-year leases is smaller than usual. Those who leased cars in spring 2020 have an incentive to buy them at the prices that were locked in before everything became more expensive.
