James Franco Attached To HBO Porn Project

James Franco has been confirmed in the lead role of David Simon’s upcoming HBO pilot about the New York porn scene in the 1970s and 1980s, according to XBiz.
The writer of The Wire has had his pilot greenlit by the network although there is currently no indication when shooting will begin. The working title for the show will be The Deuce.
Franco has worked with porn-related material before, producing a documentary about the BDSM studio Kink. I can’t say I’m a massive fan of him as an actor though, so I’m not entirely sure how to greet this news.
Either way, it’s Simon so I’m sure it will be well worth watching whether it’s lumbered with a crap actor or not!
