As a new member, you are not allowed to upload images to Freeones.

Use an image host. It is super simple. The one I use is:

https://pixhost.to/
Thanks much, I'll give that a try.

Edit: I get an error message that says the the pic cannot be loaded from the passed link. I tried a different image host and got the same result. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

If the pic is in WEBP format, it won't work. The vast majority of pic hosts don't support Google's WEBP.

What is the filename extension? If it is WEBP, try one of the hosts below:

https://new.fastpic.org/
https://freeimage.host/
https://postimages.org/
https://nfhost.me/
https://jpg.church/

If you can view the WEBP photo on your PC app, then save it as a JPG file.

If not then use this site to convert it to JPG:

You can also install a Save image as Type add-on / extension in firefox or chrome.
When you right click on any image you have the choice of saving it as JPG, PNG, or WebP.

Where is that on the Firefox Plug-In site? I can't seem to find it.

Thanks for this help but it may not be useful. The hard drive pic is a .jpg file.
The internet link has to be a direct link to the photo, it should end with .jpg
Try saving the file and uploading it from your hard drive.
Also, try mouse dragging it from the original page to the host page, sometimes that works.

I just assumed firefox had a similar add-on.
If I find one for firefox I'll post it here.

Is it possible to import a chrome extension into firefox?

How many posts do new users have to make before they can upload an image to freeones?

There are several things that a new user has to "attain" before they get out of moderation jail.

As for what they are, you'll have to ask an admin. Moderators were told not to discuss the specifics.

Automate

Tip: install a spycam in your toilet.
GIMP opens webp pictures natively. Open there, export as jpg.
Xnview opens webps as well, batch convert option converts to jpg.
Irfanview with iv_formats plugin opens and converts webps to jpg. Open, save as, done.

Substitute jpg with whatever other format you please, not that you really need anything else than jpg or png for viewing only.

I may give those a try to see if I like them.

I really hate Microsoft's viewers since they discontinued Picture Manager, but I found a way around that. I downloaded
SharePoint Designer 2010 and extracted Picture Manager, just so I could keep using it thru Win 7, 8, 10. I don't know
if it will work in Win 11, but I'll find out. I'm going to get a new Win 11 laptop sometime in early 2023.

I've been using Irfanview for years, it's easy to use and has many basic image modifying features.
The plugin adds support for all image formats.

For audio & video files I use VLC / Videolan, it plays all audio & video formats.

Both are free, have 32bit & 64bit versions, and are updated about once a year.

GIMP - too bloated and overly complex.

IrfanView - I don't like this one.

XnView - It's a little complicated (maybe I'm just used to Pic Manager which was super simple), but far better than the other two.
