The lovely Harley Spencer is the latest model we have lassoed in for an interview and what splendid company she turned out to be. Intelligent and funny, she has already made this perhaps our most interesting interview yet – and this is only the first part!

Here is what she had to say for herself!

—————————————

1.) What brought you into adult?

I’ve been interested in sex for most of my life, and matured at a young age. Much of my youth was spent in pursuit of it, and I knew fairly early on that I’d like a career in the adult industry in some form. At first I considered being a stripper, but after some time I figured, why not just do porn?

It took some searching, but eventually I found a director through Craigslist. I know that’s not the safest or most reliable avenue to enter the industry, but it’s all I could think of at the time. So off I went to shoot some videos, and I made a few trips out of town for it, which was just a few boy/girl and one girl/girl film.

After a falling out with the director, I ended up quitting.

Then about a year later, after working through some network sites, I took the opportunity to start my own site. My main conditions were no video, solo only, and no cam. After some time, I realized that I could still shoot videos on my own without it being uncomfortable. There’s a place for every imaginable niche and kink in this business, and mine happens to be solo with real orgasms. I couldn’t do it any other way. And that’s that!

2.) Did you do anything else before you started in this business? Do you do anything else on the side now?

Yeah, I’ve primarily always worked in customer service. I started working when I was 16 as a waitress at a little family owned diner, and over the years I’ve been a baker’s assistance making cookies, turnovers, baklava, and various other baked goods, a cashier at Walmart, a waitress at a bar/restaurant, and a shift manager at a pizza place.

Working with customers is tough. I actually hated it. It can be an incredibly stressful job, as there are a lot of really rude, disrespectful people out there that will not hesitate to give someone in the service industry a hard time. I’m so glad I finally got out of there.

I haven’t done anything besides modeling related work in about 3 years, aside from a small moving job for a few days last Summer. It’s not easy not having the extra income from a stable job, but I’m pretty happy being able to work my own hours, do what I enjoy, and be my own boss. So yeah, this is my only job.

I do love selling my used dirty panties and toys, which is actually the biggest chunk of my income at the moment.

3.) Do you have any regrets at all about this career path?

Not that I can think of. I tend not to have any regrets at all. Everyone makes mistakes, goes through rough patches, struggles from time to time, and makes a few bad decisions here and there, so even for all of my bad experiences in life, I view it as learning at the very least. It also makes me who I am today, and I believe that if I hadn’t made the choices that I have, I wouldn’t be where I am now.

I will never view adult entertainment as a regret. Sure, it has it’s ups and downs, but overall it’s pretty great.

4.) Do your family and close friends know what you do? If so, how did they react?

Other than a select few, no one else knows. Not my parents, grandparents, siblings, aunts and uncles, or cousins. I really don’t want to deal with their opinions on it, as I know full well that most of them would not be happy with it.

I’ve done quite a bit of thinking about that very question over the past few months or so, and still can’t really come to terms with the fact that people who work in the adult industry are judged and discriminated against so much. I mean yeah, I’ve known that pretty much my entire life, but it’s not something that I just want to accept as if it’s no big deal.

People of all walks of life can face judgment, bullying, and discrimination to some extent or another. Consider gay rights. It wasn’t until earlier this year that same sex marriage was legalized in the US, and some people are still up in arms about it. It’s insane. Those who are gay, bi, trans, etc. have to worry about what others think all the time, and often struggle with coming out to family and friends. But you know what? They have a huge support system. Even if they’re bullied by some, which is horrible, there are millions of people out there who support and fight for them. Coming out as gay to a religious, conservative family is hard, but coming out as a sex worker to either religious, conservative, liberal, or other type of family? Yeah, right. Sex work is pretty much universally viewed as bad, and I’d really love for that to change.

I have to hide my work from just about everyone. It really sucks. Most people think I don’t do anything for money, and I have to figure out ways to beat around the bush when someone asks if I’ve found a job, am looking for one, or anything at all related to money. So they all think I’m just sitting around and being a lazy couch potato. I really wish I could tell them that yes, I do work, and no, I’m not a lazy moocher.

5.) What’s the best part of your job? The worst?

The best is probably just being able to do something that I enjoy. It’s also really nice not having to wake up at a certain time every day to leave for work. I get to work when and where I want, make my own rules, and just be myself. If I was only in it for the money, I wouldn’t be doing this. Happiness is incredibly important to me in work.

The worst… well, aside from my previous answer regarding having to keep it a secret, I’d probably say the money. Considering that I don’t work for other porn companies, only do solo, and have a very niche video style, making money is not easy. Apparently some people think I make 100k a year. Ha! Yeah, I wish. But it’s alright, and hopefully things start looking up soon. Hell, even if I get another job some day, I’ll probably still continue with my site for a good long while simply because I enjoy it.

6.) What’s the most embarrassing thing to happen while you were working? How about outside of work?

I’m a little scared to answer this one! Nothing really embarrassing has ever happened to me while working, so I don’t really have an answer for the first part. But the second… I probably shouldn’t even be saying this, but here goes.

I once decided it’d be a good idea to try to deep throat a guy while I was really drunk, and ended up getting sick all over his dick. Gross, right? It gets worse. He didn’t notice and I was too embarrassed to bring it to his attention, so I just kept right on going. Afterward, we had sex. Without cleaning. Yeah, that’s bad.

7.) Let’s talk about your unique style. It’s glam, its alternative, it’s sexy, and we love it. Do you get much feedback on being “different” in a good way?

Honestly, not really. Of course I get tons of compliments and I love that, and rarely ever get anyone saying negative things about my appearance. There’s a few jerks, but they are few and far between. I have boobs, a butt, some tattoos, and that’s all most people seem to notice. Naked girl! Win!

8.) We definitely feel that you are underrated, and the fans voted you as the Most Underrated model on FreeOnes. Has winning this confirmed your somewhat hidden popularity?

Oh yeah! I was not expecting to win anything at all, so it was a huge, pleasant surprise. For the first few days of the contest, I was really busy, stressed, dealing with some serious health issues, and in the process of moving, and I actually kind of forgot up until I think maybe the second day or something that the contest was even going on. So I log in to see myself in first place, even though I hadn’t even posted about it yet. That was pretty amazing!

I tend to be very active on the board, so I was ecstatic to see that even in my temporary absence, people were still there for me.
I really had no idea that so many people supported me and liked me. I guess a lot of people who do just tend to keep to themselves and don’t say much, which might be part of the reason I don’t seem to get as much attention as the more popular girls.

9.) Your website trailer shows a self-shot masturbation session, do you enjoy shooting yourself?

Of course! I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’m incredibly shy, and I get really nervous if someone is in the room watching me touch myself, even if they’re just filming it. For a good while, I didn’t think I’d ever step up and shoot videos due to this fear, but then I realized that hey, people just want to see me move, play with myself, and get off.

I’m not like most other girls in porn, and that’s ok. It works for me, and I’ve never had a complaint on my videos. There have been people who have requested a little talking, or some scenarios that just aren’t possible with how I shoot, but generally people have liked what they see.

10.) Does shooting yourself make you feel more comfortable for something this intimate, especially considering your orgasms are actually real?

Absolutely, yes. When someone is there watching me as I go, I feel very self conscious and worry that they’re getting bored or don’t like what they see. Some directors also tend to push their own ideas on the talent, which often involves something that I just wouldn’t be comfortable doing. Switch positions, do a little dance, shake your ass, talk dirty, say something, make more noise, move your hair, blah blah blah! Yeesh.

It’s so nice to just be myself, do what I like, and have orgasms in my own way, on my own time. Being constantly directed to do other things isn’t going to make that happen. I need space, peace and quiet, with the freedom to shoot the way I want. It feels so wrong and awkward to fake it all, and I refuse to do that.
