China - The Rise of Totalitarian Capitalism

I wasn't attacking you or calling you names. All I said is I believe you're a republican.
You're clearly not a liberal and you keep saying you're not a republican, then what are you?

Well, you can stop believing I'm a republican. I'm just a guy. A regular libertarian guy.

For Chinese President Xi Jinping, Conquering Taiwan Is A Matter Of Honor And 'Saving Face'
https://www.memri.org/reports/chine...onquering-taiwan-matter-honor-and-saving-face

'Honor' and 'saving face' are just BS slogans used by the commie assholes to justify invading Taiwan.
GREED is the only thing motivating the commie aholes in the CCP to want to illegally annex Taiwan.

"Greedy people look at the world as a zero-sum game. Instead of thinking that everyone would benefit as the pie gets larger, they view the pie as a constant and want to have the biggest part. They truly believe that they deserve more, even if it comes at someone else's expense. Greedy people are experts in manipulation."
Well, it seems Chinese Communist Capitalists and American Republican Capitalists do have a lot in common, they worship the same thing.

I don't know about anybody else, but when I think of acceptable reasons to engage in a war that could potentially kill millions of people saving face sure races to the top of the list.

Capitalism is what is causing Taiwan to be slowly taken back by China - because China economy is so successful, everyone including the Taiwanese people want to be part of the Chinese economy.

China does not have to invade Taiwan, China already controls Taiwan covertly through controlling the Taiwanese economy as well as by controlling many Taiwanese politicians/businessmen - similar to how Hong Kong is controlled by China minus the overt legislative means and overt use of force.

Capitalism is also the way governments all over the world control their population as well, by selling people the hope that their standard of living will be good or get better, most people are willing to buy into whatever their governments tell them - most are willing to do what that Taiwanese street food vendor is doing, just put their heads down and mind their own business.

Is Russia preparing to invade Ukraine? And other questions
https://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-56720589

Wouldn't surprise me if Russia and China are secretly conspiring to start two wars at the same time.
What if Russia invades Ukraine and China invades Taiwan at about the same time, how would the rest of the world respond?

What needs to happen now to prevent both these wars is for the western alliance to send military planes to fly around Ukraine near the Russian border.
The western alliance can send a few aircraft carriers and a few dozen support ships near Taiwan for indefinite military exercises.
America can aim the top-secret space lasers, that Ronald Reagan commissioned 40 years ago, at Russian army targets stationed near the Ukraine border.
America could also sell to Ukraine a few thousand M270 MLRS's to put along the border.

Maybe Ukraine can hire Trump inc. to build a border wall between Russia and Ukraine, and make Russia pay for it, It's only 1300 miles.

I wasn't sure what reaction to go with here - you're taking us on a rollercoaster of Good! WOW! LOL! SAD!

Part of me does want to see this happen. We'll get to see how solid NATO is against Russia, and the new Biden Quad Squad (US, Japan, India and Australia) will fulfill it's purpose to keep China in check.

Neither NATO nor the USA will start a potential world war over Ukraine or Taiwan. And sanctions won't matter as XI and Putin already have so much money that they are immune to any threats. And neither gives one solitary shit about "Their" people or anyone else.

China has been buying allies for its Eastern Alliance.
Are they preparing for an all-out non-nuke war over Taiwan against the Western Alliance???
Place your bets now in the stock market.
Many rich aholes in the CCP and GOP will make lots of money if a war starts.

1,000 foreign troops participate in China's military parade

So apparently the WHO skipped "Xi" and went straight to "Omicron" since they didn't want to insult Chinese people with that last name
...or maybe just one President they were afraid of?

The Tiananmen Square protests in pictures, 1989
https://rarehistoricalphotos.com/tiananmen-square-protests-in-pictures/

"From the outset of the incident, the Chinese government’s official stance was to downplay its significance, labeling the protesters “counterrevolutionaries” and minimizing the extent of the military’s actions on June 3–4. The government’s count of those killed was 241 (including soldiers), with some 7,000 wounded; most other estimates have put the death toll much higher."

Anybody remember how decades ago people were arguing that increasing economic ties to China, despite their brutal totalitarian nature, for their cheap labor would democratize them and bring them closer to recognizing human rights?

Well, about that...Whoops, that didn't work out too well did it?

Of course nobody with half a brain ever actually believed that, even back then. They just wanted the cheap labor to enrich themselves, and China got even more powerful over the years in large part because of that. It was a loose loose situation all around.

This story warms my heart: (Not being sarcastic)
Little Lithuania pokes China with Taiwan support and pays the price
https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/lithuania-taiwan-china-1.6334793

Lithuania stood up to China where no other country would and literally gets cancelled by them.
But in the aftermath, Taiwan shows its appreciation, and it looks like Lithuania is on track to recover, and in the process made a loyal ally, as well as gaining the respect of the EU/US.

I hope more countries follow Lithuania's lead. China can't cancel every country they trade with, and petty stunts like these shouldn't be tolerated.

I think an interesting test of China's clout is whether Russia & North Korea will keep quiet during the olympics. North Korea's "Military founding day" is next week, and they've been celebrating it every year with missile/nuke tests... the kind that gets everyone on edge. And we know Russia is just itching for an invasion. Pooh is going to want the spotlight to be on the games and not have the news cycle talk about anything else. It would make sense for him to negotiate with these countries to hold off for 2 weeks. If there are no NK military tests and Ukraine is un-invaded during the games, that's a sign that these guys are very close.

Well, I guess that was a mixed bag. NK still did their tests (although not as dramatic), and while putin didn't invade, he still kept in the headlines. Although the olympics did manage to keep busy with their own scandals as well, so it's hard to call this one.
