EXCLUSIVE: 'This is playing with fire - it could spark a lab-generated pandemic':
Experts slam Boston lab where scientists have created a new deadly Covid strain with an 80% kill rate

Researchers added Omicron's spike protein to the original Wuhan Covid strain
Omicron's spike is highly mutated which made it the most infectious variant ever
Eight in 10 mice infected with the lab-created strain died at Boston University lab

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/...ersity-CREATES-Covid-strain-80-kill-rate.html

The 'lab leak' Covid theory alleges that the virus was created via gain of function research being undertaken at the WIV.
It is feared that the virus being developed managed to infect an employee and then escape into the real world from there.

Every pandemic and epidemic started with one infected person who spread it to other people, etc...

Everyone studying medicine and especially virology should be shown movies like 12 Monkeys, Resident Evil, etc...

Covid was probably created in a lab and accidently released, about two months before millions of Chinese people went on holiday travels all over the world.
I hope it was caused naturally from a bat, but more circumstantial evidence points to a lab created virus that was accidently released, or possibly intentionally released.

Get vaccinated, wear a mask indoors in public places, and wear a condom when having sex.

Errr...it's would be kind of hard for humanity to continue it's advancement in understanding viruses and bacteria without labs that study viruses and bacteria being able to modify them, which in some ways is damn near all those places. So either we shut down all significant advancement into the subject for the rest of time or accept the infinitesimal chance something goes wrong.

Also, before stating something "probably" happened one needs at least the actual preponderance of evidence showing it did.

DEBUNKED!!!

I should have fact checked the article from dailymail.co.uk, I didn't know it was a tabloid and not a credible news source.

Boston University says COVID strain created in lab is not more dangerous - Oct 18, 2022

It's still possible that covid was created in a lab. The Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) was doing research on the coronavirus before the pandemic.
The WIV is only 8 miles from the wet market where the covid pandemic is suspected of originating.

Getting COVID more than once might be even worse than we thought - Nov. 10, 2022
A new study finds increased risk of future hospitalization, organ failure, and even death from repeat COVID-19 infections.
https://www.popsci.com/health/repeat-covid-19-infections-death-hospitalization/

From other articles I've read about people who had multiple covid infections, each subsequent infection had less severe symptoms.
Although like the article above says, some people can have more severe symptoms after a second or third infection of covid.
It could be because their immune system is weak from some other cause, or a new covid variant may be less effectively stopped by their immune system.
About 80% of people who had severe symptoms or died were overweight. About half of all infected people had no symptoms at all.

Most people don't wear masks anymore, but the local government suggests that people start wearing masks in public indoors during the winter, because of new variants and covid infections are rising.
I've been wearing a mask every time I go out since April 2020. If infections go down drastically in the summer of 2023, and Russia doesn't start a nuclear war, maybe I'll stop wearing a mask.

I'll still be masking for a while - probably until I am literally one of the last ones doing it.
COVID is just one of the reasons - you still have the flu and other stuff out there. It also gives me an excuse to tell people to bug off when they are in my personal space.

I'm also finding social interactions nice - I don't think I'm a "smiler" when I talk to people, so I feel that people have a better impression when I talk to them because they can't see I'm frowning or indifferent. Also, I've noticed people look more attractive with a mask on, so I figure the same logic would apply to me :)

One estimate is $250B (!) across three programs:

"They came into their riches by participating in what experts say is the theft of as much as $80 billion — or about 10 percent — of the $800 billion handed out in a Covid relief plan known as the Paycheck Protection Program, or PPP. That’s on top of the $90 billion to $400 billion believed to have been stolen from the $900 billion Covid unemployment relief program — at least half taken by international fraudsters — as NBC News reported last year. And another $80 billion potentially pilfered from a separate Covid disaster relief program."

I wonder how many of the people that will not care about various businesses essentially stealing from that are the same people that would bitch like hell because some poor families out there get SNAP benefits.

The IRS has detailed records on all legal employees. Why didn't they just send the money directly to the employees, instead of the employers??
The government KNEW that corrupt employers would abuse and scam the PPP.
If a poor person can't pay $1000 in taxes, the IRS will put them in jail and seize their property. If a rich asshole doesn't pay millions in taxes, they are only fined.
People who owe taxes shouldn't be jailed, it's counter productive, they could be out earning money to pay their taxes.
The IRS and tax laws need to be updated to favor poor people, instead of rich assholes.
People who earn under $50,000 should not pay federal or state taxes on their income. Sales taxes on everything they buy is enough.

That explains why the Republicans want the IRS defunded. Too many examiners roaming around will expose the fraud.

If the poor are paying only 3% of all Federal Taxes, then the government could make the top 10% pay a tiny bit more, and poor people don't have to pay any income taxes.
The top 10% benefitted the most from the pandemic, they should have to foot the bill for most of the costs of the pandemic.

https://www.zippia.com/advice/millionaire-statistics/

"The 56 million millionaires around the globe account for just 1.1% of the world’s adult population and 46% of the world’s wealth. The nearly 22 million millionaires in the U.S. account for 8.8% of the country’s adult population and over 39% of millionaires worldwide.

Many millionaires work in finance, engineering, accounting, and law, but many others work in education or as managers, which may be surprising. However, the industries that produce the most millionaires (and billionaires) in the U.S. are finance and investments, technology, manufacturing, fashion and retail, and healthcare.

About 33% of the nation’s millionaires are women, the average millionaire is 57 years old, and currently, Asian and white people have the highest likelihood of becoming millionaires. However, nearly everyone raises their chances by attending college, with 88% of current millionaires holding college diplomas and 52% earning masters or doctorate degrees.

Many may think you have to come from a wealthy family and go to a prestigious private university to become a millionaire, and while this can help, 79% of surveyed millionaires haven’t received an inheritance, and just 8% attended “prestigious” private universities (62% attended public or state schools)."

This is a common very tired and tried and true diversionary measure that people use to make it seem like the rich pay their fair share. They don't. What's almost always conveniently left out when people discuss this is pretty much every other taxes or fees besides federal income tax, and there are many, that must be paid, and almost all of them are regressive. Even more so on top of that is that much of the wealth and "income" of the rich comes from capital income like dividends, real estate, capital gains, and other such stuff taxed at a much lower rate and is not really income as it's thought of here. If that wasn't enough on top of that one would have to pretend the myriad of tax avoiding schemes that are available to the ultra wealthy that aren't to the vast majority of people in any practical level don't exist. It's how people like Warren Buffett can pay a lower rate than his secretary like most of the rich can.

If anything them still paying as much as they do show the stupidly corrupt and gigantic income inequality that exist in this country with all the income they can hide.
