What is Capitalism

I had a job interview two days ago which did not go well. Almost comically poorly in fact. If I were to be stopped on the street by one of the interviewers and they told me they got diarrhea after the interview I would feel compelled to say that was not my intent and I am sorry that happened to them. I acknowledge it didn't go well but it still seems unfair that I am going to starve or freeze to death because of encounters such as that one. You people will miss me when I'm gone. There will be virtually no NFL discussion on the board in my absence.

The NFL thread will look more like the MLB thread. At least Freeones is free!

You can use an AI chatbot to practice for job interviews. You tell the AI that you want to practice for job interviews, with details about the type of job, the type of company, etc. It will ask you the most common questions asked in job interviews based on your responses. Just tell the AI exactly what you want to do. If you haven't used an AI chatbot before, it will take a short time to get used to how human it seems.

https://pi.ai/talk is a good AI that simulates a human well, it's not the best AI, but it's free, and it has voice output so you can hear the responses with a human voice.

AI's are also much better for searching than google. Many times I tried to find something on google and couldn't. AI usually finds what I'm looking for and gives me a more concise answer, and I don't have to waste time searching thru multiple google links.

Capitalist Countries vs. Socialist Countries, Explained - Sep 3, 2023
What do “capitalism” and “socialism” really mean, especially after the collapse of the USSR?
https://www.thecollector.com/capitalist-socialist-countries/

The article is about the differences between capitalist and socialist countries. It begins by defining capitalism as an economic system in which the means of production are privately owned and operated for profit, and socialism as an economic system in which the means of production are owned and controlled by the state.

The article then goes on to discuss the history of socialism, tracing its roots back to the writings of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels. Marx believed that capitalism was inherently exploitative and would eventually lead to revolution, with the working class overthrowing the capitalist class and establishing a socialist society.

The article then discusses the different types of socialist countries that have existed, including centrally planned economies, market socialism, and democratic socialism. Centrally planned economies are those in which the government owns and controls all or most of the means of production. Market socialism is a system in which the means of production are owned by the people, but the economy is still based on market forces. Democratic socialism is a system in which the means of production are owned by the people, but the government plays a limited role in the economy.

The article concludes by discussing the pros and cons of socialism. The pros of socialism include its potential to reduce inequality and provide a more equitable distribution of wealth. The cons of socialism include its potential for inefficiency and stagnation.

Here are some additional points that the article makes:

The terms "capitalist" and "socialist" are often used in a relative sense. For example, the United States is considered to be a capitalist country, but it has a number of socialist policies, such as Social Security and Medicare.
There is no single, universally accepted definition of socialism. Different people have different ideas about what it means to be a socialist country.
The debate between capitalism and socialism is a complex one, and there is no easy answer. Both systems have their own advantages and disadvantages.

The church is a corporation that sells hope and lies for profit.
The original bible and most parts of the current version of the bible differs greatly from what the church preaches.

The bible is not inerrant.

Spank me, I'm a newbie!
I always thought this was the case. Capitalism is a system. How could one think it's an ideology? As it is happening all around us. I'm not the sharpest knife in the crayon box, so I could be wrong. Though it's quite strange.

JG: Of course, capitalism is an economic system that's been in existence in various forms for at least a few hundred years. You suggest that there are specific changes that took place around the 1980s that help to explain soaring rates of mental illness in the last 40 years. Could you say more about those specific changes?

JD: In the 1980s under Ronald Reagan in the U.S., and Margaret Thatcher in the UK, a new species of capitalism emerged which radically changed the nature of political economy. This style has been dubbed "late capitalism," "deregulated capitalism," or, more recognizably, "neoliberalism"; it's a style that significantly departed from the more socially democratic forms of capitalism dominating post-war society.

Neoliberalism greatly expanded the dominance of market forces through deregulation, privatization, and regressive forms of taxation, while significantly reducing the state’s role in the economy through cuts to labor, welfare, and social protections.

Behind these economic reforms sat a new idea of what constitutes a good and free society—a concept about what direction we should all be striving in to become the best versions of ourselves. In the new neoliberal era, then, success would be reframed as a product of having exceptional individual qualities (rather than exceptional social privileges and advantages), while failure would be rooted in some kind of personal deficit (rather than in lack of opportunity, equality, or social support).

More than 10,000 staff at three of biggest US carmakers have started strike action, their union says.
Work has been stopped at three plants owned by General Motors (GM), Ford and Stellantis.
It came after labour contracts expired on Thursday night. The United Autoworkers Union (UAW) said the firms had not put forward acceptable offers.

‘No defensible argument’: Anger boils over at CEO pay - Sept 16, 2023
The historic UAW strike puts an exclamation point on more than a decade of efforts by Washington lawmakers to narrow the pay gap between top executives and workers.
https://www.politico.com/news/2023/...g-ceo-pay-galvanizes-support-for-uaw-00116345

There should be a cap of $1 million per year for CEO's or anyone's salary, anything above should be 90% taxable.
Most people on earth will make way less than $1 million during their entire lifetime of working.

Corporate ahole greed is one of the reasons prices of everything have gone up.
