Boardwalk Empire

A great american period drama about a high political figure who rises above provinance during the prohibition period by playing both sides of the law by aliging himself with gangsters. The series imagery of the period is on point aswell as people dressing for the period. Some notable cast members are in the show such as Stephen Graham, very famous on British TV, Kelly Macdonald who was in Line of Duty recently and Steve Buscemi as the main guy who i'm use to seeing in alot of Adam Sandler films growing up.

Nice nudity in the series too which adds more reason to watch.

@tvstrip I believe you are a fan of the cop shows and seeing as you watch The Rookie, just want your opinion on the FBI shows? Would you compare it more like CSI like each ep is it's own stand alone story, or more like The Rookie with a storyline.

Think there only 2 shows FBI and FBI International. Are they inter connected in the same universe or are they complete different shows and different styles.

3 shows actually :)
And yes, they are interconnected, as they have crossover events.
I think the Arrowverse and NCIS are the only recent shows that has that much success with a shared TV show universes.

I haven't been watching too much of the FBI shows, and I only watched NCIS Sydney.
I don't think you can really compare them with The Rookie, because the tone of the Rookie is much lighter with more humour.

If you are looking for a similar show in tone to the Rookie, apart from the Recruit which I mentioned, I would suggest 9-1-1 :

Coma

Great British 4 part drama starring Jason Watkins as a middle aged man who has encountered a bully. One day he hit back and he is left in a coma. He is now living with the guilt and where the bullies father is looking for who done it to him, not realising he is under his nose all this time. The drama is very good, and makes you feel the victim is seen as more of the criminal, than the actual bully. Something we all see problems with the law at times.

FBI

Thought i would give this a go as i enjoy watching cop shows whether its American, British or anywhere else in the world. Already a fan of The Rookie and Hawaii Five 0. This show hits differently. It's a slow build getting into it, it's vibe and characters but i would say it's not like The Rookie, it is more serious and more action as opposed to comedy and upbeat.

Helgoland 513

German apocalyptic drama based on a Island of the same name. It's basically about population control where people on the island population is limited to 513. That changes when there is a newborn comes into the world. Question is who will sacrifice themselves, as the debate comes on how you rank someone's life against others.

The Dropout

Got won over to watching this as Amanda Seyfried is the lead in this drama which is based on a true story of Elizabeth Holmes as a drop out student who goes on to to start up a new disgraced medical company Theranos. Just when she thought she is becoming successful, the downfall begins as peoples health suffers and she does everything to cover it all up. Alot of the series is back and forth between her on trail and focusing on the events leading up to it. I think this series is very good, powerful and very informed of how she became how she is.

Ditto. As much as I'm happy with X-Men '97 thus far, I'm enjoying Invincible much more...
Is it fair to compare the 2?

Now if X-men 97 could go against their brand and really go hardcore - that could be interesting

The Twelve

Australian version of a Belgian series of the same name. The series has been well adapted to Australian audiences.

Big Mood

A funny sitcom about two women as friends trying to get by the pressures of current life. This is a very funny show which gives off Fleabag vibes without the breaking of the forth wall.

Passenger

A dark comedy thriller about a close knit community that experiences strange crimes being occurred. Series can leave you confused and intrigued on what will happen next

The Regime

I thought this would be quite a serious show but it's actually a satire drama. Kate Winslet always delivers in her roles and plays her role perfectly as the main lead. The comedy and humour is quite subtle so you won't recognise it at 1st as it's not a slapstick comedy

The Cuckoo

Alot of these channel 5 in the uk drama's tend to be a hit and miss but this does seem one that's in the middle. Jill Halfpenny stars as the lodger who has an ulterior motive. Watching the series, i was thinking she was not all that bad, but she is sinister. The show is a bit slow but deffo picks up in the last 2 eps.

This Town

This show is brilliant. An extended family and four young people who are drawn into an explosive and iconic music scene. It is set across the streets of Coventry, Belfast and Birmingham and opens with rioting in both places. This Town tells the story of a band's formation against a backdrop of violence, capturing how creative genius can emerge from a time of madness. This show has good diversity showing how people from different backgrounds were united and shows a different side to what we thought was the case in the 70's with the racism.

True Blood

If you are into vampires then this is a series for you. It's based on a book and i would say this has been a popular series when this was shot around 2010. It stars the beautiful Anna Paquin among other babes. Besides the nudity where the sex feels exaggerated and over the top as they fucking like animals due to them not being human, the scenes and the actual show is worth the watch. It has similar premises to any other shows about witches, vampires, wolves etc living among us like Mayfair Witches and American Horror Story, the series with the witches in.

Mammoth

A comedy about a man who has come back from being frozen and not feeling like he is fitting into the new reality. Everything is weird

Dinosaur

A Scottish comedy about two sisters who are happy with one another but things change once one is engaged. Rest of the series is based on one sisters jealousy POV. The laughs are there but you won't expect complete laughter throughout the show though.

Very dark. Bleak. Harrowing. You get the idea.

Available on Netflix.

I have added this video of an excited puppy to balance things out if you watch the show.

Red Eye

This show i believe has similar vibes to a film with the same name where a cop has the job of escorting someone for a crime they have committed, however on the plane there is a conspiracy going on which involves more murders. There is alot of suspension of belief moments as things don't make sense if you want to apply realism to everything but its just an escapism thriller, and one to not take to seriously.

People Just Do Nothing

A comedy series which has had a film come out recently, but hoping to watch this before i watch it I decided to watch this mainly cause of Asim Chaudhry who is becoming big in the British Asian comedy scene. The laughs can be a bit dry and not fast paced like alot of other comedies but it's worth a watch

The Deuce

Series about porn and prostitution being the norm in the 70's and 80's in New York. Love the story and the aesthetics as the really try and go all out to give off the vibe of that era from how the city looked and how people dressed. Show stars some notable people like James Franco, Maggie Gyllenhaal and Zoe Kazan. Due to it's nature there is alot of graphic nudity but it is what is expected when it's a HBO show. Show will intrigue you from the start as it explores everybody from the pimps, to the prostitutes and even the police force.

Murder, they hope

Light hearted mystery comedies on who done it starring Johnny Vegas. The eps are quite lengthy but worth a watch. It has a few giggles too. Series felt like they were going for the carry on formula, but avoiding offending people due to the nature being not fit to the current climate. I think for that reason it could have been better if they went full out on it, but it's still worth a watch.

The tattooist of Auschwitz

Bit surprised by this show, not in a bad way as i was thinking that the show would be based on the actual time period, however it is one which goes back and forth to the period and the present day in the form of someone narrating it. This is based on a book on actual events of the holocaust. Show is a bit slow to digest though as due to the themes of the show they wanted to nail down the horror of the times in my opinion.

Dopesick

This show got my curiosity after watching The Dropout i thought i would give this a go. I believe the show is based on actual events some what in the sense of the USA's addiction on Opoid and how this affects various people such as the families affected by it to the legal case set against the company that supplies them. There is a wide range of well known cast in the show. Names that sold me to watch are Kaitlyn Dever and MIchael Keaton, but there is also Rosario Dawson and Will Poulter
