And in MLB, Southern California style ...

Andy Green.JPG

Andy Green became the first casualty of 2019. On Saturday, he was fired by the Friars. In the four seasons, he went 274-366.

Padres ownership should have instead fired A.J. "No Medical Report Drew Pomeranz" Preller as the GM. What a waste Preller is. Okay, the one good thing that Preller did was that he signed Eric Hosmer. However, he signed Wil Myers to that big deal. Signed Manny Machado to that 10 year $300 million deal. Padres got nothing out of them. Then the probably the worst contract signing ever, Derek Norris. After the contract with the A's expired, the Padres signed him to a two year $3.5 million dollar contract In 2015, he batted .250 in 147 games with the Padres. In 2016, he batted .186 in 125 for the Padres. Norris is currently out of baseball. Out since 2017. Of course, when he traded Drew Pomeranz to the Red Sox, he "forgot" to include the medical report and other crucial things to the Red Sox medical staff. The Red Sox filed a complaint with the Commissioner's Office. That led to Preller being suspended by MLB for a month without pay and Mike Dee, the President and CEO of the Padres to be fired since it was Dee who brought this "genius" Preller in.

Oh man the Cubs - an epic collapse :1orglaugh

Thank goodness for 2016 or else... :suicide:

Good. They suck! :elaugh:

Joe Maddon should have been fired last year. Maddon was the only active manager to complain about the "Buster Posey" blocking the plate rule. And being an SFG fan, I dislike him immensely. :D

Please continue to fly the "L" in Wrigley.

Go Red - Saint Louis Cardinals. :)

Who should be the next Mets' manager?
Here's my short list, in order of preference:

1. Joe Girardi
2. Joe Girardi
3. Joe Girardi

And Kerchoke does it again!! ;) .. Ruins Walker Buehler's great game .. Kershaw gives up back to home runs to Anthony Rendon and Juan Soto. Nationals and Dodgers now tied 3-3.

Ex-LAD Howie Kendrick gets his revenge!!

(The Dodgers traded him so that Chris Taylor could get more playing time in left field. As that was the position Howie Kendrick was playing because Logan Forsythe had come over from Tampa Bay to play second base.)

Howie hits a slam .... Nats WIN!! :)

Isn’t the NL Championship series basically to decide who gets led to the slaughter?
Does anyone think either of these teams will have a chance against the Yankees or Astros?

Normally, I'd agree. But this season is turning out to be a total crap shoot.
After all, how many saw the Nationals beating the Dodgers or St. Louis beating the Braves?

It's only a matter of time at this point. The Expos (The Nationals) will be obtaining their first NL pennant very soon. Too bad Gary Carter isn't around to see it.

Right now, they are up 8-1 late in game three of the NLCS against the Cardinals. A sweep tomorrow is a very good possibility. Though, the Cardinals can beat Patrick Corbin. They did so many times when he was with the Diamondbacks. So let's say the Nationals will win the NL pennant on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 instead.

Calling it early. Nationals vs Yankees World Series. As much as I like the Yankees, I'll be rooting for the underdog. Nationals in 6.

GO 'STROS!!!

At age 16, Altuve attended a Houston Astros' tryout camp in Maracay. However, the team's scouts declined to allow him to participate because they decided he was too short and they suspected that he had lied about his age. The next day, with encouragement from his father, Altuve returned to the camp and produced his birth certificate. Al Pedrique, then a special assistant for the Astros, asked Altuve, "Can you play?" Altuve looked him in the eye and said, "I'll show you." Pedrique championed him to the front office, convincing them that he had the talent and strength to eventually play in the major leagues. The club gave him an evaluation, and, after he impressed team officials, they signed him to a contract as an undrafted free agent on March 6, 2007, with a $15,000 (USD, $18,124.7 today) bonus.

He also endured three consecutive years of losing 100 games before winning the 2017 WS, AL Most Valuable Player Award, AP Athlete of the Year.

and Now the ALCS MVP:

The Nationals go up 2-0 in the Series with a beatdown of the Astros, 12-3. :D

Home field advantage? ... Cole and Verlander not effective at all. Now three games in Washington, DC.

I'm not watching but man with each National's win Bryce Harper (and for that matter the Phillies) have got to be feeling progressively more humiliated.
