Should there just be a "Mass shooting in the US" sticky thread?

I don't mean to be stoic, but we're still in the middle of a global pandemic and we've had our second in less than a week.
And to be pragmatic, I don't think any of us really believe that a POTUS change is going to do anything.

This week:

And there were 7 reported shootings with multiple victims between the Atlanta shootings last week and this one on Wikipedia alone.

I mean, there's not just one, but 2 wiki pages for mass shootings in the US PLUS one for every year...

Should there be a thread? In a perfect world, no! We're far from perfect though.

Watching the local news interview people in the aftermath of the Boulder incident, quite a few said "We never thought it would happen in Boulder." It seems to be a common refrain after these events. We need to wake up, realize it can happen anywhere, and either do something about it or just learn to accept everyone's 'thoughts and prayers'.

Late night: https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/24/arts/television/stephen-colbert-boulder-shooting.html

Colbert:
Let’s regulate guns the way we regulate alcohol and cars. You got to be 21, you got to pass a test to get a license, you got to have a registration and insurance for your gun. If you move to a new state, you got to do the whole damn thing all over again. And you can’t go out loaded.”

Meyers:
I heard an anchor this morning call the events in Boulder ‘unimaginable.’ That’s probably a word we can retire. When something happens three or four times a week, it is no longer unimaginable. Sadly, we’re at a place where common sense gun laws and political action are the things — they are the things that have become unimaginable.”

That reminds me, has there really been that much anti-immigration rhetoric? Or does that only apply when the immigrants are from certain nationalities?
Since all of the mass shootings have been by domestic terrorists, we haven't needed to point the finger elsewhere. This guy was 21 and his family emigrated from Syria US in 2002 (he would have been a toddler upon arriving). I would believe him to be domestic.

He's still an immigrant, and I can't shake the feeling that there are tons of people out there who want to shift the blame.
Could you imagine if this guy was Hispanic? Or as bubb says, he turns out to be Muslim? He could have been a newborn and I don't know if it would have made a difference for those people.

Let's see. In Colorado alone, we've had Eric Harris, and Dylan Klebold, James Holmes, Scott Ostrem, and now this.

You can regulate or deregulate the owning of guns all you want. The bottom line is that nut jobs will be nut jobs. There is no end to that.
Thank you for the trip down memory lane. It must the be altitude or something.

Or as bubb says, he turns out to be Muslim?
He is - at least culturally.

I'm too lazy to set a usertitle.

My thoughts is not the fact that a certain portion of the populous is just nuts, it is making it harder for them to be actively nuts. Harder to kill 10 people with a hunting knife vs an AK47. I once saw a BIG Pickup truck with the bumper sticker that said " If we can't have guns, can we use Swords?" Explains a good portion of the mentality doesn't it?

Funny thing, when you look at Japanese Criminal Law, their weapons offences usually group firearms with katanas (or any traditional Japanese blade). I would ROFL if US crim law was eventually amended to look like its Japanese counterpart.

It's literally titled "Firearm and Sword Possession Control Law"
銃砲刀剣類所持等取締法

(Hey, we can post in other languages now - COOL!)
