'Why is Israel apologising all the time' Sarah Palin on whistlestop tour of Jerusalem

Shouldn't she have vistited both Israel and Palestine to show some sort of impartiality, you know wanting to be a future president an all. Then she accuses Obama for not doing enough to help the Arab protesters eventhough she has no interest in visiting them either and then proclaims to have Israeli flags all over her desk, no conflict of interest there then

'Why is Israel apologising all the time': Sarah Palin shows her solidarity to the country on whistlestop tour of Jerusalem

Down time: Sarah Palin made the remark as she and husband Todd toured the Western Wall and its adjacent tunnels during her two-day trip to Israel

Sarah Palin thinks Israel should 'stop apologising'.

The former Alaska governor, currently in Israel on a two-day private tour, made the remark as she and husband Todd toured the Western Wall and its adjacent tunnels.

'Why are you apologising all the time,' Palin asked guides Israeli lawmaker, Danny Danon and Western Wall Rabbi, Shmuel Rabinowitz, after they told her Jews were not allowed to pray openly in the Temple Mount and about the riots following Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's decision to create an exit from the tunnels in the 90s.

The trip has raised speculation Palin is honing her foreign policy credentials ahead of a run for the U.S. presidency next year.

She arrived in Israel yesterday after a stop in India, wearing a large Star of David.

She went on to tell Danon that she had flags of Israel 'on my desk, in my home, all over the place'.

'She didn't go into diplomatic issues, but I can clearly say from the questions she asked in relation to our conflict here with the Muslims in these holy sites that she knows that we are right and that the Muslims are just claiming things for provocation and they're not right,' Danon told the Jerusalem Post.

Palin told them she wouldn't be able to visit Nazarath or Bethlehem during her brief stay, but promised to be back.

The U.S former vice presidential candidate was later seen heading to Bethlehem when her vehicle suddenly turned around at an Israeli checkpoint.

Photographers at the scene said no one got out of the car before it went back in the direction of Jerusalem.

It is not clear why the decision was made to turn back. Bethlehem is under Palestinian control and Israelis need permission to enter it.

The Israeli military authority that coordinates West Bank access for foreign dignitaries confirmed it had received no request from Palin's team re a visit to the holy city of Jesus's birth, according to The London Independent.

Site seeing: The former Alaska governor tried to keep a low profile away from the media glare during her trip but was happy to snap away at the scenery with her camera phone

Palin has tried to keep a low profile during what is her first trip to Israel. She dodged waiting paparazzi who were staking out hotels and holy sites in hopes of getting a glimpse of the former governor.

She rarely travels abroad and has been criticised for her weak foreign policy record.

Famously Palin didn't even own a passport until 2006 and once said ‘you can actually see Russia from Alaska’ when she asked about her insights into Russian politics.

A visit to Israel, a key U.S. ally, has become almost a rite of passage for potential Republican candidates at a time of strained relations between the U.S. and Israeli governments.

Views: Palin, fifth from right, and her entourage take in the scene from the Mount of Olives in East Jerusalem as they lookout over the walled Old City

Israel is a key American ally in a volatile region and a top concern for Jewish voters and pro-Israel Christian groups in the U.S.

Palin's two-day private visit follows similar stops by former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, all potential candidates for president in 2012.

Both Barack Obama and John McCain made stops in Israel ahead of the 2008 election. Mr Obama has not returned since he was elected however.

Israeli escorts: Palin is escorted by Western Wall Rabbi Shmuel Rabinovitz, left, and Israeli lawmaker Danny Danon, right, as she leaves the Western Wall tunnels in Jerusalem's Old City

Netanyahu has had a rocky relationship with Mr Obama over Israel's settlement building in the West Bank and the lack of progress in peacemaking.

Danon said the Republican candidates' embrace of Israel offers an alternative to Mr Obama's combative approach.

Solidarity: Sarah Palin arrived at the Western Wall tunnels in Jerusalem's Old City on Sunday wearing a Star of David necklace

David Ricci, an expert in U.S.-Israel relations at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said the steady stream of Republican visitors sends a message to Mr Obama that Israel is of interest to the other party 'and he shouldn't push them around too much.'

'They are coming here so they can tell potential supporters that they have been here first hand and have talked to leaders and have a deep understanding of what is going on,' he said.

On the significance of the trip to Palin's presidential possibilities, he said, 'It is an indication that she is keeping her options open.'

Mrs Palin gave her speech entitled My Vision of America to an audience of affluent Indians in New Delhi

As well as visiting holy sites in Jerusalem's Old City and elsewhere Palin also had dinner with Netanyahu planned before she heads home tomorrow.

During Sunday's visit to the Western Wall - a retaining wall of the compound where the biblical Jewish Temples stood 2,000 years ago - she said: 'Israel is absolutely beautiful, and it is overwhelming to see and touch the cornerstone of our faith, and I am so grateful to get to be here.

'I'm very thankful to know that the Israeli and American link will grow in strength as we seek peace along with you,' she added

While in India at the weekend Palin suggested China is preparing itself to launch a military offensive.

She questioned why the Far East country was stockpiling ballistic missiles, submarines and ‘new-age, ******odern aircraft’ seemed unjustified when it did not face an outside threat.

‘What’s with the military buildup?’ She said. ‘China’s military growth can’t just be for defensive purposes.’

Speaking to an audience of business leaders and socialites on a rare foreign trip to India, she added she has not ruled out a Presidential run in 2012 and stressed the importance of shared free-market values.

In her New Delhi appearance she warned: ‘We’re going to need each other, especially as these other regions rise’ in an apparent reference to China.

In Saturday's speech entitled ‘My Vision of America’ she also said: ‘Free people in a free country don't wage war on another country. I want peace on Earth.’

The mother-of-five, who was travelling with husband Todd, told a well-heeled audience of Indian business leaders, professionals and socialites that U.S.-Indian relations were ‘key to the future of our world.’

Palin was coy about whether she planned to run for the White House, but did not rule out a possible campaign.

She said: ‘I don't think there needs to be a rush to get out there as a declared candidate. It's a life-changing decision.’

She took a swipe at President Obama and what she described as his ‘dithering’ response to the political upheaval in the Middle East, saying he ‘should have done more for Arab protesters.’

Sarah doesn't want to be President...too much work...FAR above her "abilities"! She's merely a lonely LITTLE woman who is desperate for attention, even if it is from her brainless (like her) minions!

Funny thing is, I would imagine Sarah is actually an anti-Semite (given her background)!

In closing...if anyone should be apologizing, it's the United States...for giving us Sarah Palin!

Uly, Do you really think that she's gonna be the conservative nominee, really?:1orglaugh

For the life of me, I don't know why 'everybody' is on the bandwagon against Israel, I
mean, if you had something against the typical New York/Wall Street frauds such as Bernard Madoff and/or Dick Fuld to name just two, I can see your point, however, the Israelis are largely blue collar working class type of people. .. what gives? :dunno:

Because it's become very fashionable to believe the "Palestinians" are the "oppressed" people and that Israel is a big, bad meanie.

Man, I hate agreeing with Palin on anything because she's an airhead, but on this one, I do agree. It's easy for people to sit in the US or Europe and criticize Israel on a daily basis, but put them in a small country surrounded by people who would LOVE to see them dead and I bethat tune changes quickly.

The United States should be apologizing for having Obama as president. Think about Obama as a pro Arab president.

Israel has apologized for something? What, when and where? Typical Palin, "Why is Israel apologising all the time?" :1orglaugh:facepalm::1orglaugh:facepalm:

I suppose that's one way to court the Jewish lobby in the US..:1orglaugh Instead of the stale, old standard phrase, 'blah, blah, blah friend to Israel'...Miss Wasilla has taken it a step further in questioning why they do something they never have done....

How many foreign countries has she been in now?

Haiti. Check.

Israel. Check.

Canada. Check. (When she used to cross the border to get free health care in Canada. Fact. Look it up.)

A statement you would just as likely find in the pages of the book WWP/BS (What would Palin/Bachmann say.) and just as sensible:rolleyes: as what Palin just said.:1orglaugh

I agree, we should cut ALL aid to the "palestinians" because it ends up either supporting terrorist groups and/or in the bank accounts of their corrupt leaders. Arafat had BILLIONS when he died, his widow is happily living in France and could give a shit about those people, so why should we?

Oh, and I'll say it again, another reason is because we are BROKE.

Imagine how the people who lived and or fought during the revolutionary war and earlier.........or even the civil war would have responded to the fact that their government gives their money away to other countries?
plus the amounts?

the usa could be a great place ......just stop the taxing and spending so much, stop giving away money to other countries and people who won't work in the country itself, shrink the government.
Maybe it would revert to the way it was when anyone with a job could buy a house and a car instead of having half their wages stolen from them and just wasted and given away.
